This is a very interesting question and the answer is simple but very intriguing; yes colors carry a very significant meaning in the bible. Ask yourself why the bible would go to such minute detail in prophecy to describe the colors of a character? The reason is that the colors have great significance in showing what is inside the heart of the character. It is a powerful statement of character. 

Firstly in Exodus 26 God goes to great length to specify the colors that are to be used in His Tabernacle. In Exodus 28 he also gives specific detail about the garments to worn by priests. In Daniel 7 God is depicted as putting on garments as white as pure wool (perfect white). 

It is not a secret that red and purple were colors associated with royalty and riches. 

Further significance to colors is given in Numb 15:38: “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them to make for themselves tassels on the corners of their garments throughout the generations to come, and they will put a ribbon of blue on the corners of their garments. And it will be for you a tassel, and you will see it, and you will remember all the commandments of the Lord, and you will do them, and you will not follow the lust of your own heart and your own eyes.” It is important to note here that God says the blue ribbon is to remind them of the law of God throughout all generations. One can therefore conclude that the blue color was a symbol/ representation of the law of God. Each time they looked down and saw the blue color they were reminded of the law of God. 

Rev 17:3 “And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.[b] 5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.” No prizes for guessing which color is missing. The woman and the beast have BLUE color missing. That color which represents the law of God is missing. In my view this is another clue to the correct identification of the woman and the beast. To me this prophecy is saying the woman and the beast whilst richly robbed do not obey the law of God. They have taken care to portray themselves as opposed to the law of God. 

I challenge each one of us to review the corporate colors and robes of all major world religions and make their own conclusions. Which ones have left out the color blue? What colors describe in Rev 17 do they have? You will also wonder like John in great amazement.

Our understanding of colors in the bible isn't really fully complete as we would want, but it should be growing in the future as other scriptures also become more fully understood.

Personally, here is what I believe the major ones symbolize:

White - purity, righteousness, sacredness, holiness

Black - death, destruction, desolation, despondency

Gold or yellow - wisdom, particularly divine wisdom, higher knowledge or understanding 

Red - heredity by blood, passion, nationality, nationalism, battle, war

Blue - Connection with heaven or God, priesthood, spirituality, divine revelation

Purple - kingship, majesty, dominion, empire 

Green - vital energy, growth, fertility, prosperity
