In short, no.

Abortion is ending a human life, which God has created. That tiny person has a soul. Rape and incest are terrible sins and very painful for the people who have to go through them. I sympathize with their pain, especially as they have to live with a reminder for the next 9 months, but the father's sin is never an excuse to murder the baby.

The Bible is explicitly clear on the value of lives before birth. Jeremiah 1:5 is probably the most commonly used example, where the Lord tells Jeremiah that before He formed him in the belly, He knew him. Another example is Luke 1:41, when John the Baptist leapt in his mother's womb when Mary the mother of Jesus entered. There are more examples, but I think these two go to show that babies are alive and human and, more importantly, have a soul from the time they are conceived.

Scientifically speaking, babies are also human and living in the womb. The heart starts beating at 3-4 weeks. The brain sends electrical signals at the end of week 5.

Logically speaking, what makes a person a person is not leaving the vagina. The clearest line that can be drawn is at conception, because one inch inside should not logically make a difference unless the vagina has some magical life-giving power, which it doesn't.

If you know someone who is thinking of having an abortion, please ask them to contact one of many pro-life support groups. I wish you all the best!

I agree with Laura A. Killing a child because of the circumstances of its conception is not biblical.

Deuteronomy 24:16 says, "Fathers are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each will die for their own sin." Killing a child because of someone else's crime is wrong and can never be justified. Two wrongs don't make a right.
