John 7:21-23, "Jesus answered and said to them, 'I did one work, and you all marvel. Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?'"

Acts 15:1, "And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, 'Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved'."

Genesis 17:9-24, God tells Abraham keep My covenant. You and your male descendants shall be circumcised. It shall be a sign of My covenant. When a child is eight days old every male child born shall be circumcised. Any male bought with money shall be circumcised. My (God's covenant) will be everlasting...Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised..."

Luke 2:21, "And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child His name was called Jesus,..."

I am sure that since Jesus quotes Genesis 17 in John 7:22,23 that He is telling us that Moses wrote what the Holy Spirit told him. Moses is the author of the book of Genesis.

Scholars have debated this since the eighteen hundreds. There were four documents that brought questions about the authorship of Genesis. However, no real consensus emerged from this scholarly debate.

After all the studies the conclusion is that Moses recorded and compiled Genesis.

All I know is, Jesus clearly assumes it. His word is good enough for me. I believe Moses wrote Genesis by God's design.
