Is it ok to use part of my tithe to invest in my business if I plan to add a fifth to my tithe later, after my business flourishes?

Malachi 3:8 - 12

ESV - 8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, 'How have we robbed you?' In your tithes and contributions. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.

In response to your question, the answer is no. The Holy Spirit is the One who teaches us through the Scripture to put God first.

Putting God first is the principle of tithing. I believe that we as believers should not tithe out of fear of being cursed, but because we love the Lord and want to honor Him with our giving. I encourage you to read Proverbs 3:9 & 10.

As believers we cannot do things our way and expect God to bless us. If you are going to tithe, then you must follow the leading and the instruction of the Holy Spirit.

To be honest with you, I believe we think that our intentions are honorable, but God knows our heart. We can say that we are going to do something later, but later never comes. The enemy will always make sure that there is an excuse why we cannot do what we have vowed to do.

Personally, I would not want to be found in a place like Ananias and his wife Sapphira who lied to the Holy Ghost in Acts 5.

The Bible tells us not to make vows, if we have no intention to keep them. I encourage you to do whatever the Holy Spirit tells you to do.
