Christians are not intended to practice their faith in isolation. They are to consciously strive to associate with other Chrisrians -- not just for purposes of worship, but also to offer spiritual, material, and emotional help and support to others (both within and outside of the particular body of believers to which they belong) in all the various types of situations in which such help and support might be needed, such as in times of hardship, bereavement, illness, or any of the multitude of similar circumstances that life may present.

Through such support, they assist the affected individuals in bearing the burden that those situations place on them by sharing it, or taking part of it upon themselves, in the same way that helping another person carry a heavy physical object reduces the amount of weight that each individual must bear.
