I would say that, from a Biblical point of view, any type of sickness or ill health is ultimately the product of living in a fallen world where sin is present. This is reflected not only in the presence of organisms (such as viruses, germs, or bacteria) that cause sickness, but also by the actions of individuals through living in a manner that exposes themselves (or others) to those organisms, or that accelerates the natural physical aging progression of those individuals toward death. 

Although advances in medical science have made (and will continue to make) great strides in improving the health of both individuals and communities (as well as in eradicating various types of disease), and although God desires the best for His followers, my study of the Bible leads me to believe that ill health will never be completely abolished in this present age because of its spiritual root cause. However, as indicated in Revelation 21:4, there will come a time in eternity when such conditions will no longer exist.

The Bible has much to say about bad health:

Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."

Romans 8:23 "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, 'My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

James 5:14 "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the LORD:" When I was really sick once in Dallas, I called on the elders of my church, Primera Iglesia Bautista, and they came to my dorm room, and they all prayed for me, and my pastor anointed me with oil. And the Lord healed me! 

When Nathanael first heard about Jesus, his response was one of skepticism: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46). When illness strikes, we similarly wonder, “Can anything good come out of this?” 

The diagnosis may be unwelcome, but God’s sovereign plan ensures that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28). “Even though our outward man is perishing,” Christ will one day “transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself” (2 Cor. 4:16; Phil. 3:21).
