We should always treat others the way God has treated us. My wife and I were traveling down the highway when we ran in to road construction. There was a girl standing there holding the stop sign waiting for the pilot car to come back. She looked tired and hot and without thinking my wife handed her an unopened bottle of cold water we had brought with us.

Right away I remembered Jesus said the even a cup of cold water given in my name shall be blessed. Many times it is not the great things we do but the small things that God sees. I also believe it was the work of Jesus through my wife it was so spontaneous.

We all wonder at times when we do something and wonder why we just did that. It can only be the work of Christ in us and through us. I marvel at His grace to people I do not know but He does. He has used me to give money to people on street corners holding a sign needing money to get home. I have no idea what they used the money for, but the Lord wanted me to give it to them anyway.

Jesus has been so forgiving of my sins, how can I not forgive others their sins. I have found the best way to relate to others is how merciful God has been with me.

Someone once or twice told me that I forgive easily. Mercy is one of the common graces of the Christian character.
It may be related to giving to the needy & giving to the Lord's work.

Like the gift of ministry, showing mercy entails succoring the sick and afflicted. The act of succoring is something that Christ did for us (Heb. 2:18).
