First of all, with the Bible, you either believe all of it or none of it. In the beginning God... you do not pick and choose...

However there are many reasons (secular) to know God's words are absolute truth. Here are a few...

# 2 law of thermodynamics states that in all physical processes, every ordered system over time tends to become disordered. Everything is running down and wearing out. Check out Isaiah 51:6.

Lloyds register of ship building records that by 1900 every large ship on the high seas was inclined toward the proportions of Noah 's ark. (30:5:3) Genesis 6.

Washing your hands in a bowl of water, does not make them clean. It leaves invisible germs on them. It has been scientifically proven that flesh should be bathed in running water. See Leviticus 15:13

Evolutionist, Stephen Hawking, "The universe and the laws of physics seem to have been specifically designed for us. If any one of about 40 physical qualities had more than slightly different values, life as we know it could not exist: either atoms would not be stable, or they wouldn't combine into molecules, or the stars wouldn't form the heavier elements, or the universe would collapse before life could develop, and so on..." Austin American Statesman, October 19, 1997

Arthur H Compton, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, "Science is the glimpse of God's purpose in nature. The very existence of the amazing world of the atom and radiation points to a purposeful creation, to the idea that there is a God and an intelligent purpose back of everything...In the beginning God..."

Natural 'kinds' validate the Bible...Genesis 1:11,12; Genesis 1:21,25. Louis Agassi argued "that God's individual thoughts, made incarnate so that we might perceive both His majesty and His message. Species are institute's by divine intelligence as the categories of his mode of thinking."

Scriptures are filled with prophecies. None have been proven wrong. Zechariah 9:4, Luke 21, Isaiah 66:7,8; Genesis 16:12...

All stars look alike to the naked eye. But the Bible declares each star is unique, 1 Corinthians 15:41. Close examination of their light spectra reveals that each star is different from all others.

Thomas Jefferson said, "I have always said, and always will say, that the studious perusal of the Sacred Volume will make us better fathers, and better husbands."

In extraordinary ways modern archaeology is confirming the core of the Old and New Testaments and supporting biblical stories.

The Dead Sea Scrolls.

This bible makes more than 40 references to the Hittite Empire. In 1906, Hugo Winckler found 10,000 clay tablets that document the lost Hittite Empire.

Josephus wrote of the destruction of the temple in 70A.D. by the Romans. Matthew 24:2, Luke 21:6

If all creation evolved without a creator, (scientific evolution), how did it happen? How did lungs come to a creature that was alive and breathing? Where did food go before a stomach existed?...it must be just a theory...think...

Origin of the Species, the forward written by Sir Arthur Keith, states, "Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the alternative is a special creation, and that is unthinkable."

Rejection of the book of Genesis is Genecide!

This Scriptures deal only in truth and certainty. They reveal fact, reality and purpose for man'existence.

Finally - platelets- they begin a chain reaction leading to blood clotting. Lacking one step, the process is defective resulting in uncontrolled bleeding. If evolution is true, this process the 12 step process of evolution could not have happened in one generation. One mistake in the chain would have led to death!

Professor H.S. Lipson, "We must...admit that the only acceptable explanation is creation. I know this is anathema to physicists, as indeed it is to me, but we must not reject a theory we do not like if the experimental evidence supports it."

I agree with Shirley about the Hittites when she said, "This bible makes more than 40 references to the Hittite Empire. In 1906, Hugo Winckler found 10,000 clay tablets that document the lost Hittite Empire."

I would add that the Hittites were also considered a Biblical legend until their capital and records were discovered in modern-day Turkey.

I agree with Shirley when she cited/listed the Dead Sea Scrolls as one of “many reasons (secular) to know God's words are absolute truth.”

I would add that in 1947 (the year I was born), the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls (which are copies of almost the entire Old Testament) confirmed how accurately the Bible was copied from 200 BC to AD 1200.

I like Shirley H’s comment about Josephus: “Josephus wrote of the destruction of the temple in 70A.D. by the Romans. Matthew 24:2, Luke 21:6”

I would add that Josephus was one of the Greek and Jewish writers including Pliny and Tacitus who supported the Bible’s claims that Jesus really lived, that He was executed between AD 26 and AD 36 and that He was worshiped as God.

Is there any “secular” evidence to support the Bible’s claims?

I voted up Shirleys answer. It is brilliant.

Secular evidence in many sciences substantially support and confirm the biblical and historical records in respect to geography, place names, prophecy, existance of now non-existant nations and the amazing complexity and harmony of Gods Creation.

But the claims of the Word of God revealing the deity of Christ and His work on the cross and the redemption of the repentant sinner remains hidden from the secular world and mind.

1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The Bible was written to and for the people of God as a means of revealing His majesty, grace, mercy and redemptive intent

It is only those who have embraced his Son and live in His love that have hearts illuminated by the in-dwelling Holy Spirit and are thus able to comprehend the greatness and goodness of God.

The changed life is sufficient evidence of the life of God within a man or woman.

The secular mindset has an intellectual approach and requires "proof" of the Bible's truths. For this reason the secular quest for evidence or proof will never be satisfied because they are looking for evidence and not for a person.

The Bible requires that the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17
Galatians 3:11,Hebrews 10:38)
