Jesus spoke (in passages such as Matthew 24:7, Mark 13:8, and Luke 21:11) of the occurrence of earthquakes as being one of the signs of the close of the age, but He also said at the same time (in Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32) that only God the Father knew exactly when that event would occur, which, in my view, would apply to the rapture also. The responsibility of Christians is to be in a continual state of personal spiritual readiness for those events, and to use the intervening time to bring as many other people as possible to faith in Christ through the sharing of the gospel and the examples of their own lives.
