There is a parallel verse in Matthew 22:30. Jesus is being tested or really mocked by the hypocrite lawyers and Pharisees' and Sadducees' attempt to embarrass Him in front of the people. The Sadducees were a group of religious people who didn't even believe in the resurrection of the dead, so their interest was to catch Jesus in a conflict. Jesus instead quotes Scripture, like He did to defeat Satan when he tried to tempt Jesus [Matthew 4:1-11]. Jesus is saying after the children of God die and are in Heaven and after the resurrection of our immortal bodies, there is no one married as in flesh, but we are the Bride of Christ, and thus our entire focus is on Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom, and during a time there is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.[ John 3:29, Matthew 9:15,and Revelation 19:7]. We the Church are the Bride of Christ, thus we have no need of another to be married to, when all is consummated.
