You need to develop a daily private praise & prayer time. Time spent in His presence, being still. As with any relationship you have, it didn't "just happen" you developed it over time and you continue to nurture it daily. Your faith is like a muscle that requires flexing daily or the muscle will atrophy.

2 Tim 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matt 4:4,2 Tim 2:15 and Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If you don't have a church home, find one where you can have Christian fellowship, encouragement and accountability as you grow in your walk with the Lord. We are as close to God as we want to be. Best wishes!

As you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, trust Him in all your ways. What my experience says that whatever you want in your life, ask in prayer and you should wait until He replies.

A Christian is also advised to follow all the 10 commandments. Because, once someone follows the commandments, it is much easier to listen to Holy Spirit. The Spirit is ultimate guide which enlightens our path and help us to abstain from the path of lawlessness.

Once you read your Bible, the Word of God, you will know the truth. Both New Testament as well as Old Testament help once read prayerfully, to walk with the Lord.

1Peter 2:2 KJV As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

We grow as Christians by committing to the study of the WORD OF GOD. We must also stay in prayer, by doing this the HOLY SPIRIT takes us to different levels of faith. Then we grow. When we become born again, we are just like babies. As babies grow by breast milk, we Christians also grow by the sincere milk of the WORD OF GOD.

Great question, John Adamson!

To walk by faith means to see opportunities even in the midst of opposition. (Wiersbe)

We see other believers; we sing and hear the hymns; we taste and feel the elements of the Lord’s Supper.
We walk by faith (2 Cor. 5:7) and work by faith (1 Thess. 1:3), which probably means serving in church or at least in some parachurch organization, i.e. serving the Body of Christ). It is faith that gives power to prayer (Luke 17:5-6). We should be taking opportunities to pray for all men everywhere with prayer requests from church, from online sources, from people at work, from family members, etc.

"The Apostle Paul reminds us that today 'we walk by faith, not by sight' (II Cor. 5:7). We rest in the promises of God, as we await Christ’s coming. But with Horatio Spafford we pray, 'Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight' (CH-6)." --https://wordwisehymns.com/2011/02/23/it-is-well-with-my-soul/
