What was the significance of being born in Zion? (Psalm 87:4–6)
4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there. 5 And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her. 6 The Lord shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.

In my opinion, the phrase "born in Zion" is being used to characterize someone who was a Jew (and thus part of God's chosen people) from birth. The psalmist is saying that this distinction does not apply only to those who are physically born as Jews, but also to righteous individuals from other peoples (including the nations and individuals mentioned in the psalm, such as Rahab (Joshua 2)). The thought being expressed is similar to the statement of Peter in Acts 10:34-35 when he realized that it was God's will that Gentiles be accepted into the early Christian church.
