According to God's promise to Abram (Abraham), as recorded in Genesis 15:18, and His later words to Joshua, as recorded in Joshua 1:4, the Promised Land in its entirety consisted (from west to east) of the land from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River, and (from south to north) of the land from the Nile River to the southern boundary of Lebanon. This would encompass not only the modern-day state of Israel, but also all of the land of the Palestinians, as well as parts of modern-day Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
