“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declared the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11). The Bible says that God's will is “good, pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2). First and most importantly, we should have a relationship with Him. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3-4). Christians should be completely committed to following His will. “If anyone would come to me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23). It is important to read the Bible, because God can and will reveal His plan for your through the Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105). And finally, if we just ask God through prayer to give us wisdom to know His will, he will do it. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Seek and you will find (Matthew 7:7).

The previous answers are all wonderful. I would like to add the word "Patience" to the list. By all means, use the search window on this site. Walk by the Spirit Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Patience in Suffering: James 5:8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. There are many other verses referring to Patience. The Lord works upstream so to speak, as we wait downstream unaware at times that He is preparing, shaping and controlling the flow of things to come down the river of life. How do we make ourselves aware of His plan for us? Look up the word "Obedience." Look up the word "Prayer." When I look back on my life, my journey and my walk, I can say confidently that through times of suffering and also times of joy, God was navigating my path. Conversely, when I went through periods of doubt, sin, lack of prayer, self discipline and selfishness, I was a lost ship at sea. I was a ship without a rudder or keel. Therefore you will know God's plan more clearly and more often when you connect the "phone" line to His "Office" through Prayer, Patience, study and Obedience. Dreams will reflect or reveal hidden or subdued emotions. They may also be a direct revelation of the next step in His plan for you, but tread carefully here. If you receive an answer through a dream, follow up with prayer, thanksgiving and patience.

Listen carefully: I am going to tell you *exactly* what God's plan is for your life. God's plan for your life is simple and it is this: Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbour as your self. Mark 12:30-31 That is God's plan for your life. And that is all you need to know. You may say but what job should I choose? Which person should I marry? How many children should I have? Which church should I go to? Well that is up to you. God has given you spiritual understanding to make those kinds of choices for yourself. And provided you carry out loving Him with all your strength and loving your neighbour as yourself, then it doesn't really matter about the details. They will sort themselves out. While it may be true that God has a detailed plan, he doesn't reveal it to us, nor is it our role to try to uncover the details in order to carry it out. Since God's plans never fail, we never have to worry about those details. All we have to worry about is the big plan - Loving God first and our neighbour next. That's already hard enough for us to get right isn't it? Regards Phil

This is what every human being ought to be asking themselves daily and every moment. If we acknowledge that we are creatures of God, then He must have had a plan with and for us. Being Omniscient, He certainly would have the best possible plan for me, the only problem is how do I get a copy of that plan? My view has always been that God has a perfect plan. However He uses us to execute that plan under His guidance. The trouble is that instead of us fitting into His plan and working harmoniously with Him, we disrupt His plans and make it very difficult for Him to accomplish His plans which are good for us by the way. Every well-meaning Christian will therefore dedicate him/ herself to finding out those plans. The starting point in my view is the Lord’s prayer as given in Mat 6:9-13: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your Kingdom come, YOUR WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we also forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil.” I have highlighted what I want to focus on in this prayer - YOUR WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. I think if we dedicate ourselves to knowing and doing the will of God on a daily basis we will have made tremendous strides in our Christian walk. Jesus as our perfect example showed us how to do the Father’s will. Nothing in Jesus’ ministry was done on chance, He was found in every place where the Father wanted Him to be. Yet He was as human as you and me. What was His secret? How did He manage to have so intimate a knowledge of God’s plans daily? I think the answer can be found in His prayer life. We see Jesus at the end of every eventful day retiring to personal prayer in solitude, usually to a mountain where He was not going to be disturbed. The most amazing thing is that after these prayers He would do the most amazing things. In Mat 14:23 Jesus walking on the water and subsequently healing Legion is an example. He dismissed the disciples and took time to pray alone on a mountain. Mat 26:42, Luke 3:21, 5:6, 6:12, 22:39, Mark 6:46, Jesus’s prayers were not about telling God who was sick or how Judas was such a sinner etc. His prayers was where He connected with God, He did more listening than talking. Our prayers ought to follow the same pattern. We shouldn’t pray to God as if He has been sleeping and was unaware of what has been taking place. We should pray knowing that we are talking to an infinitely greater God, who actually knows what you are going to say before you even think it. He even knows those things that you ought to pray for even if you don’t pray for them Rom 8:26. So if I am going to pray to such a God, I would rather not say anything other than to ask Him to open for me His will and grant me the wisdom and strength to be part of His plans. I once read somewhere that prayer is actually an opportunity for us get to know what God is doing or what He has planned and ask what our roles in His plans are. That makes a huge difference. We humble ourselves at His feet and we allow Him to direct all operations. Reminds me of the conversation God had with Abraham on the road to Sodom that afternoon in Genesis 18: 20-33. That is how God desires to engage with us in prayer. Prayer is the only way we can connect with God and know His plans so that we can know our roles in those plans.

Gods plan for our life is to do "His" will. We are created for a purpose not to do our will or our plan but the will of God who created us. Jesus is our supreme example, who said I have come to do the will of my father. So when we walk in Gods will, we are walking in Gods plan for our lives To Know Gods plan for your life we need to listen to "His" voice through "His" word and when we listen and obey his voice " His " spirit would guide you and lead you into "His" Will or "His" plan. The requisite here is total obedience. There is a difference in knowing "our" plan and "Gods" plan. When we are involved in Gods plan there is a price tag attached. It means a total surrender of our will. May I just quote Mary the mother of Jesus, who had her own plan, but she surrendered it for Gods plan for her life. We all know the price she had to pay. What about Joseph the dreamer, what a price he paid to be in gods plan.The three Hebrews boys in the book of Daniel, prepared to forsake their position of luxury to fulfill Gods plan. Be assured as you persevere his plan, his purpose, through His word, you will find yourself and when you find yourself you will find Gods plan for your life.

God has one plan for each and every one of us. We could title His plan as the three S’s to being complete in His Son Jesus Christ. SAVED in Christ SEPARATED by His word SERVING through His Spirit The first S motivating the second S, the second S motivating the third S, The only way Gods plan will work. We could write a book on this except one has already been written. The Bible! The one thing His plan calls on is our participation, our involvement. Without that it will never happen. Once we have placed faith in God’s Son, we must commit to intentionally living in Christ. To live in Christ we must obey His written word, when we obey His written, The word become in us the living word and then do we begin the spiritual qualifications to serve. There is nothing new here, it is the path and principles to everything we seek after. Once we are in Christ, we must then premeditate in our minds to practice (perform) All His word calls us to do, and do it on purpose, with that purpose fulfilled in The glorification of Christ in our living and life before others. Saved, Separated, Serve!
