Are pagan objects within a person's home a sin if you are not bowing to them?

For example, suns, moons, etc...

Jeremiah 10:14

NKJV - 14 Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; Every metalsmith is put to shame by an image; For his molded image is falsehood, And there is no breath in them.

I would say that what potentially makes anything -- not just replicas of physical objects that pagans at various times have bowed down to or worshipped -- an idol is that people accord it the priority and attention in their hearts, minds, and effort that rightfully belong only to God (Mark 12:28-34).

People might justify themselves by saying that they are not physically bowing down to a tangible object as an idol, while at the same time giving other intangible areas of their lives (such as the pursuit of wealth, for example (Mark 10:17-22)) time and attention (and thus love) that should be devoted to God, which is just as idolatrous.

In my opinion, the objects that one is surrounded by is of decidedly minor importance compared to the person's inner attitudes and priorities toward God and toward fellow human beings, and their allocation of the "three T's" (time, talents, and treasure) that God entrusts to them to use in His service, and for His glory.

Idols can take various forms, not only as pagan objects, but whatever takes your devotion and priority away from God. We are to give God first place in our lives, and that means we cannot love something else more than God. These things that we devote ourselves to can be possessions, jobs, relationships, hobbies, sports, and any other addictions. When we worship God, we should learn from the nation of Israel and not follow after other gods, because God has made it clear how He feels about idolatry.
