Let us compare and contrast both Antioch and Alexandria as follows: 

✿ Antioch:

❶ Antioch was the capital of Syria
❷ Antioch was the third city of importance in all the Roman empire, Rome and Alexandria alone being more eminent.
❸ It was built by Antiochus Seleucus, near the Orontes river. 
❹ At that time it was one of the most celebrated cities of the East (Acts 6:5; 11:19-27; 13:1; 14:26; 15:22-35 Gal. 2:11). 
❺ It is not the Antioch in Pisidia as it refers to an another city (Acts 13:14-52; 14:19-22; 18:22; 2Tim. 3:11).
❻ The Jewish Christians that were forced to flee from the persecution of Acts 8:1-2 went into Antioch establishing Jewish churches.
❼ The original church at Antioch is known as the mother church of Christianity.
❽ The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. (Acts 11:26) The name Christians means Christlike. Regardless of who started it the name has remained as the best one for followers of Christ. Its use indicates that the Holy Spirit considers it the highest name human beings can bear upon earth (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1Pet. 4:16)
❾ Paul’s training in schools of Greek philosophy, his eloquence and logic helped the polished scholars to build Antioch to have more glorious heritage than Alexandria
❿ It was a HQ and heart beat of Christianity. Antioch became center for Gentile Christians just as Jerusalem was for the Jews


✿ Alexandria:

❶ Alexandria was the *capital of Egypt* during Paul's life time
❷ A city in Egypt, built by the famous Greek emperor, *Alexander the Great* and it was more prominent than Antioch 
❸ It was built under the direction of Dinocrates, the celebrated architect of the temple of Diana at Ephesus (wonders of the Ancient world) 
❹ Ptolemy Soter founded the famous academy called the Museum in which learned men devoted themselves to philosophical studies. Some of the most celebrated schools of antiquity flourished here. 
❺ The Tower of Pharos, one of the seven wonders of the world, was here. 
❻ It was here that the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament, was translated in 285 B.C..
❼ Very eloquent man having strong rhetorical powers highly cultivated in Alexandrian schools.
❽ The men in Alexandria were mighty in the scriptures (Septuagint-Greek O.T)
❾ Thoroughly acquainted with the law and the prophets and skilled in the Jewish method of interpreting them.
❿ Apollos was one among the eloquent men strong in scriptures (O.T)
