Often times the consequences of sin far outweigh the sin itself. When a spouse has an affair and destroys their marriage, that adulterous sin has far reaching consequences. The other spouse and the children all suffer because of their sin.

Likewise, consider the drunk driver who's sin is drunkenness and gets into a car accident with a family of 4, killing both parents, leaving the children orphans. That person's sin has far greater consequences than just their problem with alcohol.

Sin is so pervasive. It never only affects the sinner. Jesus summed up the entire law and all the prophets with two commands: Love God. Love others. All sin, at its root is a failure to either love God or love others. When we sin, we affect more than ourselves. 

We would all do well to take sin a lot more seriously than we do. Our sin is what nailed Jesus to the cross. Thank goodness God loved us enough to bear our burden.

Each person is accountable for their own sin unless your sins are forgiven through the blood atonement paid for by Jesus Christ through receiving salvation.

When you receive salvation you know that you know you received it. Just like if you sin after salvation, you will know that you need to confess it and ask forgiveness for it from your Heavenly Father and it could include a person that you have sinned against.

The Holy Spirit and the scriptures have several basic purposes to train you in righteousness, exhort you when you need it, build you up spiritually, edify, correct, chastise, lead and guide you in the way of holiness, righteousness or sanctification.

Sanctify them by thy truth. Thy word is truth. John 17:17
Jesus once said to his disciples that they were all cleansed by His word. John 15:3 His word is soap and water to our whole being.

Understand one key point about chastisement: Once a sin is confessed and forgiven chastisement ends about passed sins.

Their is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. From the Holy Spirit after that you may have guilt or someone may not forgive you after you ask for forgiveness from them, but time heals most wounds. Romans 8:1

Unforgiveness in anyone's life is a poison to both soul and body, so forgive as quickly as possible because it is a key to a healthy soul and body.

Remember the soul is your mind, will and emotions, so keeping your soul healthy affects the body's health.

Forgive and you shall be forgiven. Mathew 6:14 You reap what you sow. Life and death are in the power of our tongue. A man who loves it will keep his body and soul clean. Speak life always to yourself and everyone. Always walk and talk with grace.
