What happened to the Virgin Mary after Christ went to heaven?

How can I find out what happened to the Virgin Mary?

Matthew 28:1 - 20

ESV - 1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.

As far as I am aware, the last explicit mention of Mary in the Bible is in Acts 1:14, where she was noted as being present with Jesus' apostles and other followers in the Upper Room (where the Last Supper had taken place) immediately after Jesus' ascension.

The apostle John, to whom Jesus had entrusted Mary's care (John 19:25-27) also may have mentioned her in the salutation of his second epistle (2 John 1:1), when he referred to "the elect lady", but there is no name given.

Mary has also been suggested as being the woman "clothed with the sun" who is mentioned as appearing in John's vision in Revelation, beginning in Revelation 12:1, but, once again, the woman is not identified by name.

My understanding of Catholic (Western) and Orthodox (Eastern) tradition (rather than explicit Bible teaching) is that Mary lived with John and died in Jerusalem (where her tomb is said to be located in the vicinity of Gethsemane), although other ecclesiastical sources have suggested that John and Mary lived in Ephesus in Asia Minor (modern Turkey), and that she died and was buried there. Both traditions maintain that, three days after her death (referred to as her Dormition ("falling asleep")), she was resurrected and assumed bodily into heaven.
