When the Philippian jailer asked Paul, "What must I do to be saved?", Paul responded, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved." (Acts 16:30-31). This means that you recognize

-- that you have sinned against God by disobeying His commandments, and thus failing to achieve the perfect holiness that He requires to remain in His presence;

-- that you thus justly deserve only eternal punishment and separation from Him because of that disobedience;

-- that you therefore personally require the deliverance from sin that Jesus came to provide through His sinless life, redeeming death, and resurrection, and that only He can offer;

-- that you accept by faith that Jesus' death and resurrection has fully paid the penalty that you yourself deserve from God; and

-- that you are depending on nothing other than that faith (rather than on anything that you have done or will do) to make you acceptable to God, and to attain eternal life.

The requirement for Eternal Life is talked about in scripture as entering God's Kingdom and not Perishing. The very first requirement is to believe the first four words of the Bible, Genesis 1:1, " In the beginning God " for without God there is no eternal or true life.

Matthew 7:13-14 describes the path to Life instead of destruction. Then John 3:16 explains the Path, Belief in His only begotten Son, John goes on to tell us how to know for sure we have eternal life. He wrote in 1 John 5:13-14 that those who do Believe or Trust in the Son of God can know they have Eternal Life.

Finally Paul says in Galatians 6:7-8 that sowing of the flesh brings death, but sowing of the Spirit brings Eternal Life.

The conclusion is to Believe in God and what His Son Jesus did for us, come in the flesh, live a sinless life, give His life on the cross and shed His sinless blood, die, be buried and Gloriously be Raised from the Dead, ascend into Heaven in order to Give Eternal Life to those that are in Him John 10:28-29.
