✿ Faith:
The word "believe" denotes the act and process of faith. It comes from the Greek verb pisteuo (G4100) which occurs 248 times in the New Testament. This use of the present tense indicates that faith must be continued in to receive its benefits (Acts 14:22; Eph. 6:16; Col. 1:23; 2:5-7 1Th. 5:8; 1Tim. 2:15; 3:9; 6:12; 2Tim. 3:8; 4:7; Tit. 1:13; Heb. 10:23-38 2Pet. 1:5-10). It can be lost (Lk. 8:13 1Tim. 1:19; 4:1; 5:8, 12; 6:10,21; 2Tim. 2:18; 3:8; Jude 1:3; Rev. 2:13). 

✿ Faith means:
❶ To be persuaded of (Rom. 4:17-22; 8:38-39 2Tim. 1:12) 
❷ Place confidence in (Eph. 3:12; Php. 1:6; Heb. 3:6,12-14; 10:35; 1Jn. 3:21; 5:14) 
❸ The substance or conviction of things hoped for, the assurance of things not seen (Heb. 10:19-38; 11:1,6; Rom. 4:17; 8:24) 
❹ Absolute dependence upon and reliance in the Word of God and of Christ (Mt. 8:8-10; 15:28; Rom. 10:17; Heb. 11:1--Heb. 12:3) 
❺ Full surrender, yieldedness, and obedience to all known truth (Rom. 1:5; 16:26; 6:11-23 Jas. 2:14-26 2Cor. 10:4-7 Heb. 11:6) 
❻ Trust wholly and unreservedly in the faithfulness of God (Mt. 6:25-34; 12:21; Lk. 12:28-31 Eph. 1:13; 1Tim. 4:11; 6:17; 1Cor. 10:13)

✿ Bible confirms as to how to live in faith: 
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved and your entire household" (Acts 16:31). The Bible is the record of God's dealings with man in the past, present, and future. It contains His message of eternal salvation for all who believe in Christ, and eternal damnation for all who rebel against the gospel.

✿ Faithful proclamation of the risen Christ as the Lord and the Saviour took Paul and Silas to the innermost of dungeons. The two peculiar prisoners were prepared for everything. They met the persecution with a spirit of praise and prayer. Whether or not their hymns moved their fellow-prisoners' hearts, we are not sure. But their praise did move the Roman prison! Following a great earthquake, the foundations of the prison were shaken, all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosened. All these brought the Philippian jailor on to his knees. He fell down trembling before Paul and Silas and cried, "Sirs, What must I do to be saved?" What do you think was the reply? Paul did not attempt to deliver a sermon on Seven Steps to Salvation. Nor did he make him recite a long prayer of confession! He could answer the thirsty soul in one sentence, and I should say, it was the only possible answer that God Himself could have given the jailor: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).

✿ Hundreds of thousands of people today ask the same question that the jailor asked. "What must I do to be saved?" This is the throb of their hearts. They visit places of pilgrimage, one after another, hoping to get their sins washed off by holy baths. Many perform charitable works to make up for the dark deeds of their past life. By nothing are they able to get rid of their guilty conscience, and so they starve for the peace of mind. There is only one way: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!"

✿ During His earthly ministry Jesus went about healing the sick and setting free the demon-possessed. The disciples had the opportunity to accompany Him wherever He went and were eye-witnesses of all that He said and the miracles He performed. The disciples wanted such miracles to be wrought by their hands also. They approached Him asking, "What shall we do that we might work the works of God?" They might have expected Him to give a course and teach them the means and methods of performing miracles. To their disappointment, He replied, "This is the work of God that you believe in Him whom He sent" (Jn 6:28,29). Simple words but profound truth! It may imply nothing important to the present-day Bible Scholars who frantically seek to dig out deeper truths. In our desire to go `deeper' we have failed to go `higher!'

To me, living by faith from a Christian perspective has multiple possible meanings or implications:

1) believing in concepts or events that we ourselves cannot necessarily prove, or that we have not personally seen, or that even appear to contradict human logic or experience, but doing so because God has revealed them, or because multiple other individuals who did see them, and whom we consider reliable, have attested to them, and have willingly died for that testimony (John 20:29; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; 2 Timothy 4:6-8); 

2) believing in the fulfillment of future promises (even though we may not see their complete fulfillment during our earthly lives) because the promises are made by a Being (God) whom we trust based on a past record of truth, love, and faithfulness toward ourselves and others (Genesis 15:6; Romans 8:32);

3) believing that nothing happens without God's directive or permissive will (Matthew 10:29-31); 

4) retaining these beliefs even when events seem to contradict or refute them (Job 13:15); and

5) not just maintaining these beliefs as abstract concepts, but basing our worldview, life decisions, and behavior on them, even in the face of adversity or persecution, or if we are not temporally rewarded for them.

To answer your question, "What does it mean to LIVE (emphasis mine) by Faith?", I would say that it means to live your life differently because you have Faith!

I offer the following analogy: If Jesus appeared to your church and after introducing Himself, turned, said follow me, and then walked through the wall, if you had Faith that He was in fact Jesus, you would follow Him through that wall. Why? Because if you really believed He was the son of God, you would want to please Him by doing what He asked you to. So, if you have true Faith, you should also want to do what He asks you to. Things like "Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength." AND, "Love your neighbor as yourself," "Go and sin no more!" Feed my sheep! Etc.

To live by Faith means not necessarily "What would Jesus do?" But "What would Jesus have me do?" Why? Because I believe Son, the Son of God, who gave his life for me wants me to!
