Bible records the events of Christ going down to Hell before He rose from the dead:

✿ Please read the following references: 
1. Jesus fulfilled the prophesies foretold by David 1000 years ago that he went down to Sheol/Hades (Ps. 16:10; Acts 2:27).
2. Jesus promised to the penitent criminal on the cross (Lk. 23:43) that he will be with him in Paradise in the lower parts of the earth (Eph. 4:8-10, Ps. 16:10; Mt. 12:40; Heb. 2:14-15). All the souls in Paradise were liberated as Christ took them with them when he ascended to Heaven immediately after resurrection but before meeting their disciples.
3. Jesus also preached to angels (spirits) while in Sheol/Hades (1Pet. 3:19; 2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7). 
4. Before the resurrection of Christ all righteous souls went to paradise (lower part of the earth) where they were held captive by the devil against their wills (Heb. 2:14-15). But the devil could not confine Jesus in his captive against his will. Christ reclaimed all these captive souls from the paradise or comfort compartment of hades and took them to heaven when He ascended on high (Eph. 4:8-10 Heb. 2:14-15). Hell was robbed of its victory then, as far as saints are concerned. Death does not sting for the righteous Christian as they they are escorted to Heaven by Holy angels (Lk. 16:22) until the end of the first resurrection. 
5. It will sting sinners until it is destroyed at the end of the Millennium (1Cor. 15:24-28 Rev. 20:11-15; 21:1-7). 
6. Hell was personified as being a victor holding his victims in defeat. He will loose his victims at the end of the Millennium when they will be judged and death and hell themselves will be cast into the lake of fire in utter defeat (Rev. 20:11-15, Lk. 16:19-31 Ps. 9:17). 
7. Christ now has the keys of Sheol/Hades (Rev. 1:18).

✿ It is evident that Jesus visited all the compartments to take the authority or keys of Sheol/Hades as righteous souls were held captive against their will(Rev. 1:18). Let's study the point (3) in detail was misinterpreted. 1 Pet 3:19 says, "By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison"

✿ What does that mean?

By the Holy Spirit anointing He preached to the angels in *tartarus* - (Compartment 1 refer Q54) while His body was in the grave (2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7 see on Gen. 6:4).

✿ Ten Proofs that Spirits in Prison Are "Fallen angels"

❶ These angels sinned in the days of Noah (Gen. 6:4). These angels had sex with women in Noah days. Both testaments teach that some angels committed sexual sins and lived contrary to nature. Gen. 6:1-4 gives the history of such sinning. 2Pet. 2:4-5 says that angels sinned before the flood and were cast down to hell to be reserved until judgment. It doesn’t reveal the sin as fornication, but Jude 1-7 does, saying, "the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner (as did the angels), giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." If Sodom, Gomorrha and other cities lived contrary to nature and committed fornication, as the angels did, then it is clear that the sin of angels was fornication. According to Gen. 6, this sexual sin was committed with "daughters of men.

❷ If these were human souls it would not specify only those who sinned in the days of Noah.

❸ Human beings are never called "spirits." Where human spirits are referred to it is always qualified and clarified by speaking of them as "spirits of men" (Heb. 12:23); "spirits of all flesh" (Num. 16:22; 27:16); and "spirits of the prophets" (1Cor. 14:32). People have spirits, but they are not spirits. Where the word "spirits" is used without such qualifications it refers to spirit beings (Ps. 104:4; Heb. 1:7,14). 

❹ There is a special prison for angels that sinned before the flood (2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7). 

❺ The Greek word for "preached" is kerusso (G2784), meaning to proclaim as a public crier, or to announce something whether it be good or bad (2Cor. 1:19). It is not the Greek: euangelizo (G2097), meaning glad tidings of salvation as it would be if salvation had been preached to human beings. 

❻ The gospel is never preached to human beings after they die, and there would be no special message for only the one generation of Noah's day for God is impartial. Human beings are appointed to die and after this the judgment (Heb. 9:27), not more preaching intended for their salvation. 

❼ There is no special prison for human beings who sinned in Noah's day and another prison for all other human beings who have sinned. All go to Sheol/Hades until the judgment (Rev. 20:11-15). 

❽ Christ made no announcement to human souls in hell that we know about. He did liberate the righteous souls taking them to heaven with Him when He ascended on high (Eph. 4:8). 

❾ He left the angels in hell until the judgment (2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7). 

❿ Christ Himself--not Enoch, Noah, or some other man--went to preach to these spirits. This could only be while He went to Sheol/Hades (Ps. 16:10; Acts 2:27). Whoever the spirits are they were in prison when Christ preached to them (1Pet. 3:19). All these facts indicate that they were angels and not men.

Luke 23:56 indicates that Jesus' followers rested on Saturday (the Jewish Sabbath), according to the commandment (Exodus 20:8-11). Matthew 27:62-66 records that the Jewish chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate on that day (even though it was the Sabbath), and requested him to place a guard on Jesus' tomb to prevent the apostles from stealing Jesus' body, and then claiming that Jesus had risen (as He had said He would). Pilate assigned a guard of soldiers to them, and they then set the guard before the tomb and, as an added measure, sealed the stone that was in front of the tomb.
