What does the Bible say about people in a public meeting praying for the salvation of someone in front of him, without explicit permission?
Consider the situaton: One comes to a new fellowship and the fellowship prays for the salvation of the newcomer, speaking his name in public. Wouldn't this put the newcomer in an awkward situation? Maybe he is part of another fellowship and feels that he is already saved. Or maybe he is a seeker who is not ready to become saved. What does the Bible say about this, if anything?
1 Timothy 2:1 - 15
ESV - 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people. 2 For kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

I believe that the Bible says that we should pray for all people. I am not sure whether we should pray for "them" in public or in private, but by all means, we should pray for "them".

The couple of times that the question used the word, "maybe" will bring me to answer in this way: I think that if there was an alter call, asking for those to come, that wanted to be saved, it would be ok. Sometimes this is offered by just asking people to come forward or to just stand where they are. If the call was just for newcomers to come or stand up, it would not be right to single out one person by name for prayer, on the spot, unless that person asked for it. The bible calls us as Christians to pray for others, for nations, for many reasons, the answer is yes, but we can do that at home. When we come to repentance individually in our hearts and we want to accept Christ in a profession of faith, it is our choice to make. In Deuteronomy 30:19, the Bible states we have a choice and even implores us to make that choice. It states, "...I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life, that thou and thy seed may live. So if this person was not choosing to be saved in that moment, then it was his choice. Maybe they were hearing this good news for the first time and needed more information. In plain words, God gives us a choice, on the acceptance of His Salvation.
