To the best of my understanding, the experiential argument for the existence of God is based on the accounts of people from widely differing cultures, and multiple historical eras, who claim to have had a direct contact with, or experience of, God. The argument holds that the number of these claims, the degree of similarity between them, and the quality of life of those who made the claims, are such that it would be impossible for all of them to be wrong, totally fictitious, or the products of causes such as mental disease, rather than at least some of them having actually occurred. Therefore, these experiences can be adequately accounted for only by the actual existence of God.
