I think that, with regard to this question, our primary guidance by example comes from Jesus Himself, who, when tempted by Satan (Matthew 4:1-11) (which would certainly qualify as engaging in spiritual warfare with him), did not invoke a curse upon him, but merely rebuked him each time by quoting directly from Scripture, and finally by simply saying, "Begone, Satan!"

In the same way, Jude, in his epistle (Jude 9), made a specific point of noting that, when the archangel Michael was disputing with Satan about the body of Moses, Michael did not presume to pronounce a reviling judgment against Satan, but just told him, "The Lord rebuke you."

If Jesus and Michael had no need for curses, neither should Christians. Being thoroughly grounded in Scripture, and employing the elements of the "full armor of God" (as described by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18), are all we should need to combat and defeat any spiritual enemy, without having to make use of curses.

Jesus delegated His authority--the right to use power as received and when needed to destroy Satan's works.(Lk. 10:19) 

The word "To tread on" is used that means to have absolute mastery over, as is clear in Ps. 91:13; 108:13; Isa. 10:6; 63:6; Dan. 7:23; Mic. 5:5; Rev. 11:2. 

Christians are to have power over all power of the devil, "and nothing shall by any means hurt" them. Christ Himself set a model to expose His power over devil(Acts 10:38; Jas. 2:6; cp. Lk. 13:16; Jn. 10:10; 2Cor. 12:7; Rev. 2:10).

In Lk 10: 20 expounds that the power over demons should not be the source of joy, but sonship evidenced by one's name being written in heaven (Ex. 32:32; Ps. 69:28; Dan. 12:1; Php. 4:3; Heb. 12:23; Rev. 3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:12; 21:27; 22:19). The whole passage is speaking of devils, Satan, serpents, scorpions, power of the enemy, and spirits. 

It is a natural tendency for man to glory in the exercise of power whether it is inherent or conferred. All such arises from pride, and it often leads to shipwreck of gifted men. Against such feelings and weakness Christ here solemnly warns.

When one is born again he enters the realm of the supernatural and spiritual; he should begin a study of the Bible to see what it teaches regarding how he should walk and conduct himself in spiritual warfare with Satan and demons. Saints are to:
1. Put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6:11-18). 
2. Know Satan's devices (2Cor. 2:11). 
3. Give him no place (Eph. 4:27). 
4. Resist him (Jas. 4:7; 1Pet. 5:8-9). 
5. Be sober and vigilant lest he devour them (1Pet. 5:8-9). 
6. Overcome him by the Word (Mt. 4:1-11 1Jn. 2:14). 
7. Overcome him by the blood of Christ and testimony (Rev. 12:11). 
8. Overcome him by Christ and His name (Eph. 1:19-22; 2:6; 2Cor. 2:15). 
9. Overcome him by birth of the Spirit and faith (1Jn. 2:29; 3:9; 5:1-4,18). 
10. Overcome him by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:1-13 Gal. 5:15-26).

Everyone of us is promised to the have same authority and power that Jesus Christ jubilantly commanded and Apostles exhibited the Apostolic power over devil with fullness in Christ. Finally we will come with Christ during His Second Coming to ring the deathbell to devil, his angels and his human followers

The enemy is defeated by trusting in and quoting the word of God to our foes in the spiritual realm. The sword of the spirit is a two-edged sword. It is a defensive as well as an offensive weapon.

That sword is unsheathed when you speak the promises of God out of your mouth. Just like Jesus Christ did in the wilderness temptations and he has been prophesied to do again when he defeats the armies of the antichrist with the sword of his mouth according to the Revelation of John. Matthew 4:1-11 Revelations 1:16

After you have done all that you can speak and pray. You must now stand on those promises, not speaking against your prayers and beliefs.

You must stand with the whole armor of God on. The helmet of salvation. The breast plate of righteousness. Haveing your loins girt about with truth. Shodding your feet with peace and taking up the shield of faith.

There are scriptures for every piece of armor that must be learned, understood, memorized and yes spoken. Jesus did it, why not you? 

Jesus is our forerunner. He is our example. The book of acts also show us examples of our first spiritual leaders and followers of Christ our Lord putting on the armor of God.

Get busy and overcome the devils assigned to you. Some have been assigned to generations of your family members but Jesus, the Father, the word, the Holy Spirit are on your side and are one. Become one with the word and you will become one in them all.

Nowhere in the scriptures are we told to curse the devil; rather we are told to do the following in spiritual warfare:

1. Resist him steadfastly James 4.7
2. Be vigilant and be sober 1 Pt 5.7
3. Give him no place Eph 4.17
4.Overcome him by the blood of Jesus Rev.12.10
5. Overcome by the word of our testimony Rev. 12.10
6. Put on the whole armour of God and stand up against the wiles of the devil
Eph 6.11
7.Not to be a novice 1 Tim. 3.16
8.Not to be ignorant of his devices 2 Cor. 2.11

"NO GUILE"

Many think that swearing/cursing/insulting is O.K., but don't realize they are actually cursing others, or judging. Or insulting them. That does not demonstrate love, forgiveness, truth, or understanding the word of God. 

And Jesus our Lord gave us the "The good and the bad tree parable" and the tares in the wheat, and saying by their "fruit"you will know them, its "how they speak."

What comes out of our mouth is what Jesus told us defiles a man.

And Jesus also told we must change as unto little children or we will not enter the Kingdom of God Matthew 18:3

Christ's Example of Suffering, King James

Jesus told what ever we do on this earth comes back on us "Ocultist/Satanists call it "Karma", or Luck. They always twist the word to get others in disbelief, mainly their own.

James said "seek peace, reap peace", and I add this "seek destruction, reap destruction."
