What kinds of things will there be in heaven? Will there be trees, animals, and houses, for example?

What will heaven look like? What will be there?

Even as eloquent a person as Paul, who was granted access to the third heaven (God's abode), could only say that eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, the things that God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9), and that what he had been shown was so wonderful that it was inexpressible (2 Corinthians 12:4).

Because of that, and because the earthly experiences of Christians, as well as all the different cultures in which they have lived, have been so diverse over the centuries, I do not even try to visualize in concrete terms what will be there.

However, I do know that Jesus will be present there, and (aside from that) that, if God has loved me enough to have His own Son live, die, and rise again for me, and if Jesus Himself said that He was preparing a place for His followers there (John 14:2), I can be fully confident that it will be perfect.

Perhaps one could infer that, because God placed humans (in their original, sinless state), as well as animals, in a garden of His own making; and because humans were originally intended to live forever, the beauty of such a setting might give some slight indication of what heaven will be like. Or perhaps John's vision of the "New Jerusalem" in Revelation 21 and Revelation 22 indicates that the eternal abode of the redeemed will be an urban setting of great beauty. But even those conceptions undoubtedly fall far short of what the reality will be.

Certainly there will be houses.
John 14:2-3 KJVS
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
