The Bible (particularly the book of Revelation) makes multiple references to both singing (such as Revelation 4:8) and the use of instruments (specifically, harps) in connection with the expression of praise in the presence of God (Revelation 5:8-9; 14:2-3; 15:2-4). (Revelation also mentions the blowing of trumpets (for example, Revelation 8-11), but as a means of alert, rather than as a musical accompaniment in connection with worship.)

To my knowledge, this is the clearest indication that the Bible provides of the nature of music in heaven, although I do not view it as either prescriptive (that is, a command) or a guide for the making of music in connection with worship on earth, including such subjects as the use of instruments, or the types of instruments to be used.
