There is no doubt that the number of different religions in the world makes it a challenge to know which one is correct. First, let's consider some thoughts on the overall subject and then look at ...

When it all boils down, it is Almighty God who reveals himself to man. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. He is the Son of God, he died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. Believe, and you shall be forgiven of your sins, and receive eternal life.

Many have found the truth by simply crying out to God, asking sincerely for Him to show them the truth.

There's lot's of evidence out there. Others on this question have shared that very well. But, when it all boils down, it is God who draws men to himself. If you are hungry for truth, and you don't know which religion is true, ask God to show Himself to you. Like this man, who was so confused...

God knows you and loves you. Talk to Him about where you are really at. If you are truly desiring Truth, you will find it. "Ask and it shall be given unto you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened unto you."

I feel that True Religion is found in the Bible, James 1:27: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

You will never know True Religion until you Believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God. That comes from knowing the Holy Spirit in Prayer. You must first seek God while He can be found! Prayer is the door of Truth, Jesus said, I AM the Door. If we will spend time in Prayer with God, He will relate to us the Truth.
I also feel we must LOVE, Corinthians 13, Love for even our enemy, and especially love Israel. Israel is God's chosen people.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, May God reward your search for the Truth.

The very first thing that you must realize is that Christianity is NOT a religion. If in your searching you find all kinds of religions you can forget every one of them.

Christianity is a one-on-one personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He is the only One that guarantees eternal life. He does it without imposing commandments, rules and regulations. He does it without requiring a structured approach to salvation with no rules attached, and with no works that you have to perforn in order to remained saved once you have turned your life over to Him.

STOP wasting your life in "religion." Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Come to Him today: John 14:6, John 3:16-17, John 3:3, John 5:24, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:8-13. Sincerely embrace and confess Romans 10:8-13, then join a local assembly of born-again Believers who love our Lord Jesus and who will live with Him eternally.

Questions? Just ask right here and now!

'To the Law and to the Testimony (Ten Commandments)! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn (Light being Jesus Christ)'. Isaiah 8:20.

So you just need to check if they are teaching the Word, the Law and the Testimony. Otherwise, they have no light of dawn. Simple.

Bless you for a good question.

Say a word of prayer before reading and get your bible and read the text.

If you are a bible believing christian you would follow what the bibles says regarding God's church. God always has a people who would be a witness for him. But first lets see what does the bible says about God's church. When the Israelite's were in bondage in Egypt God told Moses to tell Pharoah to let them go that they may hold a feast unto the Lord in the wilderness. Exodus 5:1-3 and this was God's church in the wilderness because in Acts 7:38 the bible says that these people were a church in the wilderness.

If you know the story of Israel God was trying to teach them to depend upon him and do all He says so the nations will see them and know what God is like by keeping his Commandments. Deuteronomy 4:6; 7:6 God wants a people that will represent him in this earth and he will have a people. So how do we know which church is correct it will have to be a church that follows God's commandments and do what he says. These commandments are the TEN COMMANDMENTS. In 1 Timothy 3:15 it talks about a church which is the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

We see in our society that most of the world are not keeping the commandments. 2 Timothy 2:19 says the foundation of God standeth sure. The foundation of God is his commandments as we find in Psalm 111:7,8 the commandments is who God is and how he is. There is no perfect church just like when the Israelite's came out of Egypt they were not perfect either, but God was still patience with them. Find a church that is keeping all of God's commandments including the fourth commandment. So this should narrow your list even more. In Revelation 12:17 we see how the dragon (Satan) is wroth with a woman (church) which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

There is a church that Satan hates the most because they keep the commandments of God and they also have the testimony of Jesus Christ. We read in Revelation 19:10 that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. These is a certain church that has the Spirit of Prophecy which is also the testimony of Jesus Christ.

God does have a church on earth in our day. We must be established in the present truth (2 Peter 1:12,19) and God was working through the Reformers like John Wycliffe, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Williams Tyndale, and others to restore his truth and his commandments. In the 1300's he used John Wycliffe and the church he formed was Lollards and at that time this was the present truth. In the 1400's he used Martin Luther and formed the Lutheran church and that was present truth for that time and it goes on and on from reformer to reformer and this is also why we have so many denominations because they were giving a specific truth for that time. But now in our day there is one church that has the whole truth and keep the commandments of God.

So what does that mean for the other churches, Jesus says in John 10:16 that He has sheep that are not of this fold: them also I must bring....So study the word of God and He will guide you into the right church and where you should be. Like I tell everyone else that is looking for the truth I will see at a church nearby on Sabbath!

Christanity sets itself apart from all other so-callled religions that God himself came down to earth clothed himself in frail humanity. He in frail humanity went to the cross and died for our sins and rose again. There is know one like him if you go to the grave where he was laid there will be no remains found there, yet if you go to the graves of prophets and religious leaders you will find there will be remains. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight, where as other religions would tell you to walk by sight and not by faith.

This is a statement I use in another forum:

There are many gods made by man and one God that made man, my God is the one that made man. If your God is different then the one that made man; then we do not have the same God.

I think it can be roughly transposed to focus on religion in that there are a bunch of them: but what does the Bible say.

Jas_1:26  If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Jas_1:27  Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

I tried going to every different denomination church there was, it seems, and also to the Catholic Church once for a wedding, and the Mormon church for quite a while. Nothing satisfied. Then I got saved by Jesus Christ (John 14:6), and began going to a Bible Church. I know Christianity is right. It or He (Jesus) was the only One to take away my guilt and forgive me of my sins.

Like Brian Harris, I see this question as rather simple. God is the Creator of the Universe. He is the One Who made a plan when His anointed cherub rebelled against him and talked His initially created human beings, Adam and Eve into doing the same thing he had done as the anointed cherub, that is, to disobey the law of God.

What was the plan of God? Send His Son to earth in human form to pay the price, DEATH, in order to become the Messiah/Christ and redeem faithful mankind. How do we know the Christian God is the real God and therefore the TRUE "religion"? The answer of Jesus to the question of John the Baptist from his prison cell: Jesus said, "19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, 'Art Thou He that should come? Or look we for another?'"

"20 When the men were come unto Him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto Thee, saying, 'Art Thou He that should come? Or look we for another?'
21 And in that same hour He cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind He gave sight. 22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, 'Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.'" (Luke 7:19-22)

The answer is clear! What is characteristic of the work on earth of Jesus as opposed to all other religions of the world? Miracles! God can work miracles through His children! Miracles were the signs the Jews demanded of special people like the Messiah. Miracles were the "proofs" of God He used to show Who He was! Christianity is not a religion, it is a lifestyle of a miracle-working God working through His children who "live by Faith, not by sight"!

Religions of the world are based on works by human effort. Christianity relies on the power of God working through the faith of His children. This is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. Unfortunately, Bible scholars throughout history have missed the mark when they proclaim that miracles have ceased since we now have the Bible. Also, Christianity has matured to the point that, with the Bible, we do not need miracles anymore, able to rely on what the Bible says about them. This is untrue and not taught by God's Word.

The Old and New Testaments reveal the TRUTH of God's nature and what He wants of us. God NEVER states that what He has given has been suspended such as the cessationist's belief that certain or all of the gifts of the Spirit have ceased for one or more of their purported reasons. This is simply not true. The reason we see less miracles is because that is what is being taught from our pulpits. Jesus didn't say they would. The Book of Acts prove they didn't cease. God never says they will. He gave the Gifts of the Spirit to be active in the church, the body of Jesus. And, as you might hear in most Christian marriage ceremonies, "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder".(Mark 10:9)
