The rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is not biblical. There are some truths, but like all the movies made by Hollywood and private companies, they do not follow the Bible word by word. They change events and the characters of the Bible to be more intertaining to for the averagepersonthat does not know the contents of the Bible. That is not to say, that we don't learn someTruths from the Bible and they point to Jesus Christ, whom is the only Wayto salvation. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and the only Way that God has provided for us to have Eternal Life. If you are following any other way to Eternal Life, then it is not Biblical. No denomination or person or action can take you there, except through Jesus Christ, whom was the sacrificial Lamb that shed His blood for you and me t get there. Study the New Testament Gospel to know Jesus Christ, because knowing Him, you will know God, the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob (Israel), whom created the Heavens and the Earth and created us.

Jesus Christ Superstar is of course a dramatisation that makes up a lot of material that is not in the bible. It should not be considered as a substitute for studying the bible itself. But I disagree with the answer above. It is an interesting play and movie that thoughtful Christians can enjoy.
It is the story told from Judas's perspective, so naturally Judas gives his view about Jesus. I think the intention is not that you accept Judas's view as correct, but that you imagine this is what he may have thought. In the movie, Judas thought Jesus that was just a man, until the end when he realised (too late) his mistake. His lines after Jesus's arrest and trial ("my mind, it's in darkness"), his attempt to give back his reward, and his suicide, all seem to point to this.
The movie does in fact refer to the resurrection. The last song, a second and more complete rendition of the song "Jesus Christ Superstar", is sung with Jesus in heaven and Judas (presumably) in hell.
Mary, Pilate and other characters in the movie all thought Jesus was just a man before his resurrection. The gospels record that (at least some) of the disciples realised who Jesus really was before the crucifixion, but we do not know what others thought about him at this time.
I think Jesus Christ Superstar is a wonderful movie for Christians, for those willing to think it through rather than just look at the surface.
