Regarding false accusations, the psalmist says, "For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they devise words of deceit" (Psalm 35:20). This is an accurate description...

What does the Bible say about false accusations? My favorite verse is, "Thou shalt keep them [the righteous] in a pavilion from the strife of tongues." (Psalm 31:20) In the New International Version, it reads, "...in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues." So whether you are facing false accusations at home, work, school, or out in public, stay calm. I can't tell you how many times that I have used this verse! And it has helped me greatly. It has helped me to maintain my composure, knowing the Comforter is at my side! Moses wrote in Exodus 14:14: "The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (this is another favorite verse of mine). Proverbs 14:29: "Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly." Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7 affirms, "For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control." In 1 Peter 3:16 Peter says, "Having a good conscience, so that when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame." And in 1 Peter 2:19, he says, "For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment." And the one Old Testament king, Hanun, King of the Ammonites, falsely accused David of spying on him when David had only come to pay his respects for Hanun's Dad who had died. This became a serious situation resulting in the deaths of 47,000 troops (7,000 chariot drivers and 40,000 infantrymen). 1 Chronicles 19:1-19 I.e. don't falsely accuse anyone if you can help it! God takes it very seriously! He, God (Jesus), knows what it feels like to be falsely accused: "Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree."
