In the simplest terms, Jesus came to earth to provide a means by which people could obtain eternal life in God's presence. This is expressed concisely in John 3:16 ("For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.")

Jesus achieved this by being conceived and born of a virgin through the power of God the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:26-38), without the inherent sin nature that all humans have possessed since mankind first disobeyed God and fell into sin. This enabled Him to live a life of perfect obedience to the Law (or code of conduct) that had first been given to Israel by God through Moses -- an obedience of which no one else had been (or could be) capable.

Then, although He had kept the Law perfectly, He allowed Himself to undeservedly be put to death to pay the penalty (physical death and eternal separation from God) that God demanded for sin. And, because He was true God as well as true man, He could pay this penalty on behalf of the sins of all humanity from eternity past to eternity future.

God then attested that this payment had been sufficient by Jesus' resurrection from the dead to live eternally, so that anyone who placed their faith in Jesus' atoning death and resurrection (rather than in their own imperfect obedience to God's law) to make them righteous and acceptable in God's sight would be enabled to live eternally in God's presence.

Jesus came to earth as the visible manifestation of Our Loving God.

The Jewish people always looked for signs to prove something. In Genesis 1:14, "And God said, let there be lights...for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years." Many signs show up throughout the scriptures. Some examples are:

The rainbow- Genesis 9:13, Moses, Exodus 3:12, 4:8; Jonas, Matthew 12:39; apostles, Acts 2:43; 1KIngs 13:3, Isaiah 7:11; Ezekiel 24:24. There are 8 signs in the Gospel of John!

Jesus proved his humanity by many signs - for example, His birth, Matthew 1:16, becoming flesh, John 1:14', a soul, Matthew 26:38; weeping, Luke 19:41; being hungry, Matthew 4:2; weary, John 4:6; being sorrowful, Isaiah 53:3; enduring indignities, Luke 23:11; death, John 19:30; being called like us in all things except sin, Acts 3:22. The list goes on. There are other examples. Resurrection for example, Acts 3:15.

I believe that all of this was to prove who He was. He is Our Savior! He knows all about this life! He has experienced it. HE TRUELY KNOWS! We can trust Him. He is not some fantasy. He knows our every care, our weaknesses. Having lived in the human body, Jesus knows! I believe He was also teaching us that as true believers, we will experience resurrection, just like Him. BE NOT AFRAID THE LORD is by your side!

Hebrews 4:14-16, "Since in Jesus, the Son of God, we have the supreme high priest who has gone through to the highest heaven, we must hold firm to our profession of faith. For the High Priest we have is not incapable of feeling our weaknesses with us, but has been put to the test in exactly the same way as ourselves apart from sin. Let us then have no fear in approaching the throne of grace to receive MERCY and to find Grace when we are in need of help."

Jesus came to Earth for two reasons. Someone said a long time ago that Jesus didn't come only to get people into Heaven, He also came to get Himself into people.

He came to provide the only way to save people from condemnation and death, John 14:6, " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 17:12-26, in the High Priestly prayer, Jesus says in verse 26, " I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I _myself may be in them".

Jesus in us, through the Holy Spirit, enables us to walk in faith and in the grace of God. Jesus is not only seated at the right hand of the Father since He took away the sins of the world, He is with us and _in us to help us walk in His footsteps, loving God and loving one another.

1 John 3:8 "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." This may be the most direct answer to the question of why Jesus came to earth.

It appears that Jesus' work will not be finally accomplished until he has put all enemies under his feet (1 Cor 15:25). This seems to occur at the time of the Great White Throne Judgment after Satan is cast into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:10-15).

First of all, it is God's plan to save the mankind from His wrath. He planned everything according to His choice. Sending His only begotten Son to this earth was His predestined salvation plan. According to Bible, some of the reasons for sending Jesus to earth are as follows :

Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.(1 Timothy 1:15)
Jesus Christ came into the world to call sinners to repentance.(Mark 2:17)
Jesus Christ came into the world to seek and save the lost.(Luke 19:10)
Jesus came into the world to demonstrate the true purpose of life and give Himself a ransom. (Matthew 20:28)
Jesus Christ came into the world to be a King and bear witness to the truth. (John 18:37)
Jesus Christ came into the world to do the Will of His Father. (John 6:38)
Jesus Christ came into the world to be a Light in the world. (John 12:46)
Jesus Christ came into the world that men might have the Abundant Life. (John 10:10)
Jesus Christ came into the world to Judge the world. (John 9:39)
Jesus Christ came into the world to Proclaim or preach the Good News about the Kingdom of God(Mark 1: 38)
Jesus Christ came into the world to die on the cross. (John 12:27)
Jesus Christ came into the world to fulfill the law. (Matthew 5:1)
Jesus Christ came into the world as a demonstration of God's Love. (1John4:10)
Jesus Christ came into the world because the Father sent Him. (John 20:21)

In the simplest of answers I can think of is this: "Jesus came to save that which was lost". To be "our sacrificial lamb that was slain" and to die on that cruel wicked cross at Calvary, taking on all of our sins--yours and mine--so that we may have a home in heaven for eternity. He came to pay our sin debt in full so that we "each can have our sins washed away as far as the east is from the west". "For by His abounding grace, that is everlasting to everlasting, He gives fully to all whom call upon His Blessed name to save us from our wretchedness to be one day in His presence in Glory!" 

Jesus came!

Jesus lived!

Jesus died!

Jesus saves!

Thank you Dear Lord Jesus! In Jesus' name...AMEN!
