Hell is Real...

People don't like to hear about hell these days. If Jesus is not your Lord and Saviour, you are on your way to hell. Some of you will be upset at this bad news. You think that I'm all gloom and doom. Tell me this...if your house were on fire, would you want me to let you know? Of course you would. You'd probably thank me for telling you. Well, if you go to hell, you will be the one on fire--and your soul will be lost forever.

➤ There are five distinct prisons in the underworld of departed spirits. Let us study one by one in detail.

✿ 1. Tartarus (1Pet. 3:19; 2Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6-7).
This prison is a special one for fallen angels who sinned before the flood. No human beings or demons ever go to this prison.
Eight Facts About Tartarus:
1. A prison for angels (2Pet. 2:4)
2. Located under the earth (2Pet. 2:4)
3. A place of confinement for angels until the judgment (2Pet. 2:4; Rev. 20:11-15 Jude 1:6)
4. A place visited by Christ when He went to hell (Ps. 16:10; 1Pet. 3:19)
5. A place of darkness (Jude 1:6-7)
6. A place of eternal fire (Jude 1:7)
7. A place of vengeance (Jude 1:7)
8. The word Greek: tartaroo (G5020)/ (Latin, tartarus), a dark abyss; a place of punishment
is used only here, but in Greek writings tartarus was held to be a place in the earth lower than hades where the Titans, the primeval deities or the giants who were supposed to be the first children of the earth and even older than the Greek gods, were cast when they lost their war with Zeus

✿ 2. Paradise (Lk. 16:19-31; 23:43).
This is also known as Abraham's bosom. Before the resurrection of Christ all righteous souls went to paradise where they were held captive by the devil against their wills (Heb. 2:14-15). When Christ died His body went to the grave, but He went to paradise and liberated those righteous captives taking them to heaven with Him when He ascended on high (Mt. 12:40 Eph. 4:8-10). The captives that were taken to heaven with Christ were the saints who had died from Abel to Christ until Christ conquered death, hell, and the grave liberating them (Heb. 2:14-15 Lk. 16:23).Now when a Christian dies he is no longer held captive by the devil in the lower parts of the earth, but he goes immediately to heaven awaiting the resurrection of the body (2Cor. 5:8 Php. 1:21-24 Heb. 12:22-24 Rev. 6:9-11). Christ now has the keys of hades and of death (Rev. 1:18). Paradise under the earth is now empty.

✿ 3. Hell (Mt. 16:18; Lk. 16:19-31).
This is the torment compartment of Sheol/Hades where "wicked" souls have always gone and will always go until the end of the Millennium. The torment department of hades is being filled more every day and It will hold all the wicked dead until the end of the Millennium when hades will deliver up the souls in it, and the graves will give up all the bodies in them. Then the wicked will be brought out of here to be reunited with their resurrected immortal bodies, and cast into the lake of fire (refer point number 5) for eternity (Rev. 20:11-15).

✿ 4. The abyss or Bottomless pit (Lk. 8:26-31 Rom. 10:7; Rev. 9:1-3,11; 11:7; 17:8; 20:1-10). This is the abode of demons and some angelic beings. No human soul and spirit ever go to the abyss. The O.T. equivalent is Abaddon and is translated destruction (Job 26:6; 28:22; 31:12; Ps. 88:11; Prov. 15:11; 27:20).

✿ 5. The lake of fire or Everlasting Hell or Gehenna
This is the #eternal_hell and perdition of all fallen angels, demons, and wicked men (Rev. 20:6,11-15; 21:8; 22:15). It is the same as gehenna (G1067) of Lk. 12:5. It is the final hell prepared for the devil and his angels (Mt. 25:41) and is eternal in duration (Isa. 66:22-24 Mt. 25:46; Rev. 14:9-14; 19:20; 20:10-15).

Yes, hell is a real place where the wicked will be destroyed. However, there is no hell burning right now anywhere on this earth or in the universe and there is not one single soul being tormented in hellfire today. The Bible says that God reserves, or holds back the punishment for the wicked until the day of judgment (2 Peter 2:9). If there is anyone deserving right now to burn in the hellfire would be Satan. But remember, in Job 1:7, Satan answered God that he was coming “from roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” 

Sinners will be cast into hellfire at the great judgment day at the end of the world, not when they die. God would not punish a person in fire until his/hers case was tried and decided in court at the end of the world (Matthew 13:40–42; John 12:48). The Bible is specific. Both the wicked and the righteous who have died are in their graves "sleeping" until the resurrection day (John 5:28-29; Job 21:30). 

Also, the Bible tells us that the wages for sin is death (Romans 6:23) not everlasting life in hellfire and the wicked will perish, or receive death in hellfire (Revelation 21:8). 

Furthermore, the Bible says the wicked suffer "death" (Romans 6:23), will suffer "destruction" (Job 21:30), "shall perish" (Psalms 37:20), will "burn" up (Malachi 4:1), "shall be destroyed together" (Psalms 37:38), will "consume away" (Psalms 37:20), "shall be cut off" (Psalms 37:9), "shall be slain" (Psalms 62:3). God will "destroy" them (Psalms 145:20), and "fire shall devour them" (Psalms 21:9). All of these Bible texts makes it clear that the wicked die and are destroyed. They do not live forever in misery and in the hellfire God will destroy the wicked both body and soul (Ezekiel 18:20; Matthew 10:28).
