The importance of the empty tomb (John 20 1-8) is that Jesus did what He told the Diciples He was going to do, rise the 3rd day. It also made truth of all He ever said. Christianity is the only religion that has a living God that watches over you. He also received the New Body that He promised all believer in Him, in which He was the first (remember that Jesus was a man and also God).

The Tomb couldn't hold Him for He could walk through solid objects as He did when He appeared to the Diciples in the Upper Room. He was also solid as when Thomas touched His wounds.

Jesus the God/man created all things as stated in the first verses in John chapter 1. All the old and new testaments reflect on Jesus and His forefillment of all the things the Prophets said that the Messiah would have to be in order to be the coming Messiah.

There is no doubt that people were looking for a Lion instead of a Lamb to save them from their enemies, but more importantly He came as the Lamb of God to save them from sin, which guarantees them Eternal Life.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and if you believe in Him and have a personal relationship with Him (know Him through the Bible and you accept Him as your personal Savior). You will have Eternal Life. There is no other religion that you can have a personal relationship with God than Christianity. Learn who Jesus Christ is and you will know who God is.

While I was in college for 2 years at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, I chose to write an English paper giving evidence for the bodily, literal resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. I spent literally hours of research on it, then turned in my paper. It was the longest time before I heard anything; it was a huge school, and my English teacher never returned it to me. I could have kicked myself for not making a copy.

Why did Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John choose to include women as being the 1st witnesses? Because they were intent on recounting the story as truthfully as possible.

Embarrassment is one standard that historians use to gauge the historicity of a recorded event. If an author chooses to include an embarrassing fact that may hurt his/her case, then it is unlikely that he is making up his story. The fact that the Gospel writers included the “embarrassing” details of the women being the witnesses to the empty tomb shows the unlikelihood of the empty tomb narratives being fabricated.

There would be no need to propagate the idea that the disciples stole Jesus’s body from the tomb if the tomb were not empty! | PAUL REZKALLA, PHD

This is a reference to Michael’s 3rd argument, enemy attestation.

Robbers of tombs have been known to take away 'the clothes' and leave the body; but none ever took away 'the body' and left the clothes, especially when they were 'fine linen' and new (Mark 15:46). Any one would rather choose to carry a dead body in its clothes than naked. Or if they that were supposed to have stolen it would have left the grave-clothes behind, yet it cannot be supposed they would find leisure to 'fold up the linen.'" bible.org
