Gap Creationism is a form of old Earth creationism that theorizes that there was a gap of time between the creation of the beautiful earth of Genesis 1:1 and the totally chaotic ruined earth of Genesis 1:2. This gap of time is the Pre-Adamic Age, which may have lasted for millions of years.

But one should only believe what is written in the Bible. There is no mention about gap theory in the Bible. Therefore, we need not worry about what is not written in the Bible

Andy 3 photo Andy Mangus I am a Christian since October 1979 & devoted truth seeker.
My short answer is this: "for in six days, God created the heavens and the Earth and all the fullness thereof and, He rested on the seventh day". This one single sentence in which God's Holy and Divine Word is Truth and should be taken at His Word as absolute Truth!" God tells us in many different scriptures and ways "to take Him at His Word". God also tells us that to not take the whole of His Word as Truth, then we are harming His witness and testimony of eternal Truth.

I choose to "Take God at His Word" and "to believe in His Words of Truth", while Trusting in the Lord in all that I do, say or think. In Jesus' name, I pray...AMEN! ~~Andy~~

Man is also a creation or rather part of creation, but if one is asking the duration between the creation of earth (which is the appearance of the dry land from the waters below the sky) and the forming of man. Then the answer is three (3) days. By biblically records creation was in six (6) days (that's 144 hours) and creation include; the heavens and it's host, which also includes angels, even the old serpent (devil) was also created within these six days.
the sea, the dry land and all that live in/on them.

It is surprising, how well meaning Christians and Bible scholars easily failed to realised that God was not living in heaven before the creation of heaven (because heaven is a created environment) and that angels were not with God all along. Before creation, there were only God, the Word and the Spirit of God (Genesis 1:1-2, John 1:1)

Bible records show that all creatures were created within/in six (6) days (144 hours) any other belief or theory is fallacy. The whole creation including creatures is just over six(6) Thousand years old. And that includes the heavens and the angels.

This is a great question. I think if we read the creation story in the book of Genesis carefully, we will see that it begins with: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Then, there is a sequence of 6 days, and each of them begins with the phrase- And God said, And God said, And God said, and then, after those 6 days of creation activity, God rests on the 7th day.

If we pause here and look at that, and without changing any of the words in the scripture itself, we will see that there is indeed a literary pattern there.

Then, reading on, we will notice that 'day one' begins with, 'And God said.' This means that the first sentence, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," is not talking about 'day one,' but is 'prior' to 'day one.' If you don't see that clearly, I urge you to read those verses carefully and aloud in your bible, and I think you will see what I'm talking about. It's there, unmistakably.

So, yes, there clearly is a gap, but technically, it is not a gap in time, since time did not exist before the first day of the creation story in which God created man.

God created light on the 'first day,' which introduced the concept of time. Without the sun, time could not exist. So the first 'day' of the creation story begins in- Genesis 1:3-5.

There were no days prior to that because there was no light before that, so there could not have been a gap in time. But there was, unquestionably, a gap, because a great deal had already been created prior to day one.
