What an awesome question! So many people today ask the same thing of their own circumstances. Why? How and How Long? Many of us fail to see the broader picture God was attempting to show us in the book of Job. First, God wasn't mad at Job! Instead, God was well pleased with him, look how God bragged on Job to Satan. "Have you considered my servant Job, there is none like him" "He is perfect" 

Satan began to accuse Job, to say that Job served God just for all the benefits. So God allowed Job to be tested on this. Did Job just serve God just for the benefits? Blow by blow the testings came. Still Job was faithful. Still God wasn't finished. See, God saw some junk inside Job's heart that wasn't so 'perfect'. It needed to come out.. 37 chapters later, Job ranting and raving about how unjust God was.. Job finally repented. 

Finally, Job saw his own pride and self justification. He repented in dust and ashes. When God saw his true repentance, he restored his health, his wealth, his position, his family, and his friendships. He was richer than he'd ever been before. Naturally and most importantly Spiritually, he had far more wealth than he could dream. 

What a Merciful God!
