The Canaanites were a tribe in the ancient Near East whom did detestable things unto the Lord for their own pagan god Molach, (Deuteronomy 12:31, 2 Chronicles 33:6, Ezekiel 20:25-26). They practised child sacrificed and worshiped other gods, which was why God ordered the complete and utter extermination of them.
