There is no book ever written more reliable. Consider this:

The Bible has survived for thousands of years despite the fact that there have been crusades to burn it out of existence. Despite the fact that at times there have been a death sentence just to have one in your possession. 

The Bible contains many prophecies that have been proven to come true and though some some have yet to be fulfilled never once has any prophecy been proven wrong. (one of the most amazing to me is that the exact day that Israel would become a nation again was prophesied despite the fact that no other nation had ever ceased to exist and then rose again.) Just about the life of Jesus, the prophesies that were fulfilled that were written hundreds and thousands of years before his birth that all came true, if you placed mathematical odds against every one coming true without one failing,
it has been said that the odds would be larger than if there was one grain of red sand on the whole earth, those odds would be far greater than you ever finding that one grain of sand in your lifetime. 

Literally millions of people all over the world will tell you the Bible has changed their lives. It is the world's biggest selling book every year and has been translated to more languages than any other. 

Yes, absolutely the Bible is reliable, but the best evidence of this is for you to read it yourself in it's entirety more than once. The more you read it, the more you will KNOW just how truthful and how reliable it is! 

The Bible contains evidence of scientific knowledge written hundred of years before that knowledge was even discovered. (The existence of germs for example, also astronomy facts, oceanic facts, etc.) 

As a history book, we are still discovering today more evidence that the events described were actual events not just made up stories as some would have you believe.

Well, since the Bible is the Words of God, no one can say the Bible is reliable or unreliable; as David said: " Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain." (Psalm 139:6) and as God declares : " For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9).

The question is, do we believe in God through Jesus Christ or we just rely on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5)?

Many people today reject the Bible as irrelevant for our time because, in their opinion, it lacks logic and accuracy. They consider the Bible a passion of religious fanatics or the obsession of the mentally imbalance.

Peter shatters this false opinion of the Bible saying, "We also have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts". 2 Peter 1:19.

Look first at the statement "We have the Word made more sure". Peter testifies that he and the others apostles were eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ's life, miracles, death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. In a court of law, an eyewitness account is considered the absolute standard of truth and accuracy. The same logic can be used for discovering truth in Scripture.

Peter makes four points in this verse that modern Christians dare not miss.
First, he says the Bible is more accurate than an eyewitness account. It's truth is absolute.

Second, he says to the church, "You do well to heed". The Bible is different from all other religious books. The books that are the foundation for major religions and cults interpret the present or deal with the past. None attempt to interpret the future. The Bible, when written, was 25 percent prophecy. From Genesis to Revelation, countless propheccies were given, and most have been exactly fulfilled. This confirms the inspiration, validity, and authority of the Bible. Consider the prophecies concerning the birth of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of years before He was born, the Old Testament told us the time of His Birth in Daniel 9; the fact of His virgin birth in Isaiah 7; the place of His birth in Micah 5; the intimate details of His life and death in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53; the fact of His resurrection in Psalm 16.

Third, Peter speaks of "a light that shines in a dark place" 2 Peter 1:19. The darkness here is spiritual darkness, which certainly describes our world. Peter says that the Bible is a divine light guiding us through the spiritual darkness of this generation.

Fourth, Peter states that the Bible will be a benefit to the church "until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts". The dawning of a new day is the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The "morning star" is none other than Jesus Christ. Peter in this phrase boldly declares that Bible prophecy will be of benefit to the church until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the end of the age.

There is no other book ever written (inspired by the Holy Spirit to the 40 men that wrote it) that point to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whom God sent to die for our sins, imorder for us to be able to obtain eternal life. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life and there is no other way to obtain it.
