Let's see how we do the perfect will of God: God is never in haste because all things are under His sovereign control. This knowledge will keep us from panicking. Abraham's impatience brought forth Ishmael. The perfect will of God therefore gave way to His permissive will. Till today the descendants of Ishmael are wild against the chosen people of God (Gen 16:11,12). It is folly to expect instant results just because we walk in the will of God. A "little while" in divine economy may mean anything between one day and one thousand years. Once we know what we are doing is the perfect will of God, we must stay put — "living by faith" (Heb 10:38). We must not bail ourselves out by means of our resources. God allows crises in our lives not to break us, but to make us; not to destroy us but to develop us. He is out to improve the quality of our lives. Today is World Standards Day! Tucked in the Faith Chapter of Hebrews is an illustrated report of the godly women of old: "Women received their dead raised to life again. And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection" (Heb 11:35). Our sickly modern theology has taught us that healing alone is blessing. But what about the blessedness of death that ushers us into the literal presence of God? Just because we walk in obedience to the Lord, everything will not become clear to us. Questions may abound, but no doubts! While we should not go ahead of God due to impatience, we must also not lag behind due to indolence. Why would God reveal His will to a slothful man who will do nothing about it? Apostle Paul calls slothfulness as foolishness. According to him, only those who redeem the time are wise enough to understand the will of God (Eph 5:15-17). When the apostles were busy with reaching every possible place with the Gospel, they were forbidden to preach the Word in Asia. When they tried to go into Bithynia, the Holy Spirit would not permit them there also. But they kept going and ended up in Macedonia where they got their first European convert! It is always difficult to turn the steering wheel of a parked car!

How do we do the will of God? Some of my most favorite verses are from Ep 6:13-15, "Therefore take up the whole armor of GOD, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace" And over the years I have discovered that often while I am "standing" I find that the place I am standing in is not where I think I should be. So I pray and ask for the LORD's wisdom and His guidance but it seems that He is not listening. So I pray again, and again....and still I am left standing. But GOD does not ignore our prayers. But His answers, His wisdom and His guidance can be so subtle that we are not aware of His intervention. We begin to move, step by step, without realizing that He is leading us. And with each step, He is working within our hearts by His grace, making us stronger, even as we somehow think that what we do each day has nothing to do with our spiritual growth. For a born again believer in Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit is always there to lead and influence our hearts and minds into obedience to Christ. Just as He was the obedient Son, we too are to be obedient children. And the Holy Spirit is in us to guide us into that obedience. I am convinced that is what the Apostle Paul meant when he said that we were to cast down arguments "and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of GOD, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Cor 10:5) As we endeavor to walk in obedience to His Word, we will grow in the "stature of Christ" (Ep 4:12-14) and He will be seen in us more clearly every day. That is His will for each of us. In life we may encounter a thousand opportunities from which we can choose. Of that number, there may be 999 that are acceptable to Him, but it's the one that is NOT, that's the one that often seems so enticing....so alluring! At this point in my life, and I would argue that it holds true for all regardless of age, that it's not so much the things that I know I can do, the opportunities that array themselves before me, it's the few that I recognize immediately as those things that I must cast down, take captive and dispose of. I know it sounds so simplistic, but when we walk in obedience we are doing His will. I don't think it's brain surgery! Children always know when they are being obedient and when they are not!

We must be obedient to God in order to follow him, the scripture has layed out the plan any other way is wrong follow the outline Jesus has given us. Christianity is not a secret life it speaks out loud with how we act or carry ourselves daily. This is how we know.

"How do we do the will of God" Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and (Prayer). "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened". ". (Luke 11:9, 10.) "Without unceasing prayer and diligent watching we are in danger of growing careless of deviating from the right path." Resist temptation. God Bless.

As Darlene has mentioned in the discussion Romans 12: 1 - 2 are good verses to show us how to find out what God's will for our lives is. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." So, first we have to lay our bodies on the altar as a living sacrifice. When the Lord has our bodies He has everything in them too - our hearts, minds and spirits too. When we do this we will no longer be conformed to the pattern of this world. Our minds will be under His control and He will transform us by renewing our whole way of thinking. Then we will be in a position to test and approve God's will for us. Note that God's will for one person is not necessarily His will for someone else. When we know His will we can trust Him to provide all we need to carry it out.
