The phrase "day of Christ" appears in two other verses in the KJV. Philippians 2:16 "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain." 2 Thessalonians 2:2 "That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand." Similarly; 1 Corinthians 1:8 "Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." and........... Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" I personally believe these passages are referring to the rapture of the Church. Notice there is no strong language but words of comfort, encouragement and assurance. This in stark contrast with "day of the Lord" which is always associated with judgment, wrath and destruction. (Isaiah 2:12; 13:6; 13:9, Jeremiah 46:10, Joel 1:15; 2:1; 2:11, Amos 5:18, etc)

Luke 13:32 "Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I shall be perfected." In my opinion, each of these days are as a thousand years, so the third day will begin with Christ's second coming to judge the nations. This third day is the day referred to as the '"day of Christ." We can see the day of Chirst also in the tabernacle (in the wilderness) where upon entering the Holy Place through the first veil we go through another veil to enter the Most Holy Place which is half as big. The veils symbolize the first and second comings of Christ. The two to one ratio corresponds to the two and one days of Luke 13:32. Of course, Christians who die before the third day will be judged after death, and so will encounter the day of Christ in spiritual terms, rather than waiting until Christ's second coming for its physical occurrence.
