I would like to add to what Bro.Michael has already so well explained. One beautiful lesson I see in this story is that God did not deliver Daniel from the lion's den but delivered him in the lion's den. This speaks about the awesome power of our God's outstretched arm and that nothing is too difficult for Him(Jer 32:17). At times when we encounter unexpected storms in our lives we only hope that such a thing never happened but what we fail to understand is that even in the midst of storms our God is Almighty to deliver us and grant us peace, joy and victory. The latter part of Dan 6:23 says that no manner of hurt was found upon him because he believed in his God. In my opinion this certainly is the key for Daniel's deliverance. Believing in the Lord our God and in the power of His Word wholeheartedly will grant us deliverance in every circumstance no matter how hopeless it might seem. For God is true and faithful to His Word as found in Psalms 34 :19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all". I have experienced this at all times in my walk with the Lord.

Another valuable lesson I learn is from Dan 6:22. Daniel tells the King towards the end of that verse -"and also before thee, O king, have I done no wrong". In the sight of man Daniel's disobedience to the written decree of the King was certainly wrong but in the sight of God his disobedience was no wrong. By this we understand that God never wants His people to obey any rule of man that would contradict His laws and yet, He wants them to stay submitted to the ruling authority. What does this mean?

Few years ago I received teaching from a servant of God showing the difference between obedience and submission. This teaching meant a lot to me and when applied to my life situations in the area of work, church, ministry and marriage, it proved to be a tremendous blessing. I would like to quote 1Peter 2:13 -15 which Bro.Michael has already done. While Apostle Peter teaches us to submit ourselves to the ruling authorities, he himself chose not to obey the Jewish Authority(Sanhedrin) as their command contradicted the Lord's command(Acts 4: 18, 19 & 5 :29). This clearly shows that people can be submitted to others without obeying them. To 'obey' is to carry out one's command but to 'submit' means to yield or surrender oneself to the will or authority of another. If one chooses to disobey the command of another because it contradict's God's command or law; that person can still stay submitted to the authority by yielding to their punishment with the right attitude. Not lashing their tongue against the authority, not cursing them or not being disrespectful certainly means submission to the authority. Therefore, submission is an attitude of the heart which will eventually express itself through right actions. 

We clearly see this behaviour in the life of Daniel in Chapter 6. Though Daniel disobeyed the decree established by the King, he still submitted to the King's authority by accepting the punishment without rebellion.

Paul said, " I was rescued from the lion's mouth." And, too, the Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
