The answer is profoundly simple. Please see the details as to how God supplied all Paul's necessities. It is still true to those who are in Christ and who are faithful to God as the Philippians were.

✿ Paul supported himself partly by working while starting the Thessalonian church and partly through help from Philippi (2Th. 3:7-9). Phillipians even supported Paul's basic necessities of life even in Thessalonica (Php. 4:14).Philippians have done well on their part and they communicated with Paul's affliction. ✿ In Php. 4:17, Paul did NOT say the did not want to get a further gift from Philippians, but to state facts, wanting them to bear fruit to be put to their account and rewarded in the day of Christ.

He is either storing up wrath by his deeds on record in Heaven (Rom. 2:5) or he is storing up reward (Rom. 14:1-12 1Cor. 3:11-15 2Cor. 5:10; Gal. 3:6). Even every idle (useless) word men will give an account of (Mt. 12:36). Every cup of cold water given or refused and the minutest details of life as well as the major acts will be judged (Mt. 6:1-18; 10:41-42; 16:27; Lk. 6:23,35; 1Cor. 3:8-15; 9:17).

✿ Paul felt he was both spiritually, emotionally and financially satisfied when Epaphroditus brought the things which were sent by Phillipians. In fact they sent me all that Paul needed on time. Paul felt their gift is a sweet aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God (cp. Eph. 5:2). 

✿ Paul says, "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." - Phil 4:19. This promise is still true for ALL who are in Christ and who are faithful to God as the Philippians were. (Php. 4:14-18)

The Bible tells us that God owns everything. Being sovereign, all belongs to His dominion. You name it, it belongs to Him. Everything on earth (in fact the universe) operates according to His will. 

When a man is saved, he ceases to belong to himself any longer and because he was bought with a price, he now belongs to God. We, in essence, become His servants or more accurately speaking, His slaves. 

Bearing this in mind, every thing we own belongs to Him. Is there anything in the universe that doesn't bear His signature? 

Being the Potter, He fashioned everything according to His plans, purposes and glory. 

When God supplies our needs, as the verse indicates, we must take the verse in context with the rest of the passage:

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Why does God promise to supply our needs? When we obey Him by giving to others. 

Are you supporting good, biblical missions? Are you serving your family and those God has placed in your life and heart?

If you are giving away that which God has given to you, then He will always make sure you are taken care of.

After all, if it all belongs to God, then if He commands you to give it away (a little or all), then you have no choice but to obey.

We, in our household, trust in God to support us and supply our needs on a daily basis. Every bill is paid for, every need that arises is met. We stand back in awe watching Him move in some amazing ways.

We surrender to His will, pray before making decisions that cost money, and trust that it will always be there...and it always is.

God promises the faithful that He will provide for them. God's amazing ability to satisfy His children’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs is spread throughout the Bible.
Jesus told His disciples not to worry about food or clothing (Matt. 6:25-26). Since the Father watches over even the birds of the air, we can certainly count on God to take care of us.
Sometimes are prayers seem to go unanswered but keep the following in mind.
1)Are we confusing needs with wants?
2)Sometimes the Lord will postpone answering our prayers until He can deal with an area of sin in our life.
3)God will not do what you are equipped to accomplish yourself. He is not our butler or genie.
4)Sometimes we resist God's method of provision. Don't tell him how you want it delivered.
5)Sometimes we don’t trust God. Jesus promised, “All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you” (Mark 11:24).
