Does the First Resurrection take place in 'stages'?
Scripture calls this "the first resurrection", rather than a part or stage of a resurrection. Is the idea that this is not really the First Resurrection, but that it is just a sub-stage that is part of the first Resurrection, Biblical?
Revelation 20:4 - 5
KJV - 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

The "resurrections" refer not to quantity but who participates in them. Rev 20:5. The "first resurrection" is the resurrection of life (John 5:29, Acts 24:15), the resurrection of the just (Luke 14:14) and is the "better" resurrection (Heb 11:35). It includes only the redeemed--church age believers, OT believers and believers who die during the Tribulation. They will enter the kingdom in resurrection bodies, along with those who survive the Tribulation. It doesn't matter WHEN they get their resurrected bodies to belong to the "first resurrection"--whether at the Rapture or upon their death during the Tribulation. The "second resurrection" will be the resurrection of the unconverted. They will receive their bodies at the Great White Throne judgment before they are condemned forever. All unbelievers belong to this resurrection. So it's not about timing; it's simply about the quality of your resurrection. First resurrection = good (believers only); second resurrection = very bad (all unbelievers).
