"Why are so many of those God chose so flawed?"

Let's take a look at 1 Corinthians 1:20-31. 

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 

The Apostle Paul answers your question in the following verses.

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

This is one of the easiest questions to answer, and the most difficult to wrap our minds around. First, through the fall in the garden of Eden, we live in a fallen and flawed world. Second, this means we are flawed, born as sinners. We are human. Period. 

We all have flaws. Our flaws can differ greatly. Some people have flaws that are easily seen by others, some not so much. I used to look at the preachers and leaders in my church growing up as people who had it all together. The truth is no one has it all together all the time. And if someone acts like they do, they're hiding something.

If we are transparent, we all have flaws that we need to own up to, or confess, at the very least to God. The only way to overcome our flaws is to confess them as sin to God. If we say we don't have sin, we make God a liar. But when we confess, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 

So finally, we all have flaws. We all fall short of the glory of God. If God only chose people without flaws, He wouldn't have anyone to use to share His love in a fallen world. The fact that He still chooses us, with full foreknowledge of our serious issues and flaws, proves the perfect strength of His love. After all, when we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly.

And when your flaws present themselves, God is fully capable of walking you and seeing you through it. Have a little faith. When doubt arises, just believe.

First, we all are flawed. There was only One sinless and that was Jesus. 

Secondly, I believe the Bible displays those within it, warts and all, for more than one reason. One, to add validity. For those who might think the Bible was a work of fiction, it, to the secular world, would not show the lineage of Christ, for instance, complete with murderers, (David) and prostitutes (Rahab) if it was a fictional snow job. 

Second, by showing the characters in the Bible, as sinners and as Paul said, the worst of sinners, it lets us know that we too can be accepted, warts and all.
