But I am going to take off your chains and let you go. If you want to come with me to Babylon, you are welcome. I will see that you are well cared for. But if you don’t want to come, you may stay here. The whole land is before you - go wherever you like.
But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless - like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.
Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me!
So I said to myself, “I will get up and roam the city, searching in all its streets and squares. I will search for the one I love.” So I searched everywhere but did not find him.
But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.
“From the time this city was built until now, it has done nothing but anger me, so I am determined to get rid of it.
You may be asking why I changed my plan. Do you think I make my plans carelessly? Do you think I am like people of the world who say “Yes” when they really mean “No”?
Jesus told them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but he sent me.
“What are these?” I asked the angel who was talking with me. He replied, “These horns represent the nations that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
No wonder I am so terrified in his presence. When I think of it, terror grips me.
You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.”
I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.
Even if others think I am not an apostle, I certainly am to you. You yourselves are proof that I am the Lord’s apostle.

Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.
