Matthew 23:6-12

Seven Woes to the Scribes and Pharisees

⁶ and they _c love the place of honor at feasts and _d the best seats in the synagogues ⁷ and _d greetings in _e the marketplaces and being called _f rabbi ₁ by others. ⁸ _g But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are _h all brothers. ₂ ⁹ _i And call no man your father on earth, for _j you have one Father, who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, _k the Christ. ¹¹ _l The greatest among you shall be your servant. ¹² _m Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
