Satan Allowed to Test Job
Now g there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.
And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From h going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."
Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?"
So Satan answered the LORD and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?
i "Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? j You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
k "But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely l curse You to Your face!"
And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Job 29:2 - 6
Oh, that I were as in months past, As in the days when God watched over me.
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
He dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, But it brought forth wild grapes.
Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, Who walks in His ways.
When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
"But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!"
Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me!
They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
"Your words have been harsh against Me," Says the LORD, "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against You?'
You have said, 'It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the LORD of hosts?
