The Death of David
Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
w And the period that he reigned over Israel was forty years; x seven years he reigned in Hebron, and thirty-three years he reigned in Jerusalem.
So he y died in a good old age, z full of days and riches and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.
Now the acts of King David, first and last, indeed they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,
with all his reign and his might, a and the events that happened to him, to Israel, and to all the kingdoms of the lands.

David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

The period that David reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years he reigned in Hebron, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years.

Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

So when David was old and full of days, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.
And inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, 'Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze in the tender grass of the field; let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let him graze with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him'.
They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.
