r Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but, 'He said, "I am the King of the Jews." ' "
Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."
s Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.
They said therefore among themselves, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says:
t "They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots."
Therefore the soldiers did these things.

For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet.
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.
Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, "Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?
Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?
This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.
Then Peter said, "See, we have left all and followed You.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
When we had taken our leave of one another, we boarded the ship, and they returned home.
