The Rich Young Man
k Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I l do that I may inherit eternal life?"
So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, m God.
"You know the commandments: n 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' "
And he answered and said to Him, "Teacher, all these things I have o kept from my youth."
Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, p sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have q treasure in heaven; and come, r take up the cross, and follow Me."
But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
s Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!"
And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, "Children, how hard it is for those t who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a u rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?"
But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not v with God; for with God all things are possible."
w Then Peter began to say to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You."
So Jesus answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's,
x "who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time - houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with y persecutions - and in the age to come, eternal life.
z "But many who are first will be last, and the last first."

For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.

"Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness."
Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.
He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.
1 Timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
"And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

1 Peter 4:13
But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
