The Lord Delivers Jeremiah
Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
"Take him and look after him, and do him no p harm; but do to him just as he says to you."
So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent Nebushasban, Rabsaris, NergalShare'zer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's chief officers;
then they sent someone q to take Jeremiah from the court of the prison, and committed him r to Gedaliah the son of s Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should take him home. So he dwelt among the people.
Meanwhile the word of the LORD had come to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
"Go and speak to t EbedMe'lech the Ethiopian, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Behold, u I will bring My words upon this city for adversity and not for good, and they shall be performed in that day before you.
"But I will deliver you in that day," says the LORD, "and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.
"For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but v your life shall be as a prize to you, w because you have put your trust in Me," says the LORD.' "

For behold, I have made you this day A fortified city and an iron pillar, And bronze walls against the whole land - Against the kings of Judah, Against its princes, Against its priests, And against the people of the land.
They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you," says the LORD, "to deliver you.
And I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; And they will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you," says the LORD.
"I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible."
Now Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken. And he was there when Jerusalem was taken.
Now while Jeremiah had not yet gone back, Nebuzaradan said, "Go back to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people. Or go wherever it seems convenient for you to go." So the captain of the guard gave him rations and a gift and let him go.
2 Kings 22:12
Then the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Michaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying.
2 Kings 22:14
So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. (She dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter.) And they spoke with her.
2 Chronicles 34:20
Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying.
Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
Now EbedMe'lech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs, who was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon. When the king was sitting at the Gate of Benjamin.
Then EbedMe'lech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, "Please put these old clothes and rags under your armpits, under the ropes." And Jeremiah did so.
"For I have set My face against this city for adversity and not for good," says the LORD. "It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire."'
And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.
Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers? "So they returned and said: 'Just as the LORD of hosts determined to do to us, According to our ways and according to our deeds, So He has dealt with us.' " '
He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and defects to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be as a prize to him.
"And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh," says the LORD. "But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go." '"
1 Chronicles 5:20
And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them, for they cried out to God in the battle. He heeded their prayer, because they put their trust in Him.
And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
