Can This Be the Christ?

John 7

²⁵ Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, "Is not this the man whom _x they seek to kill? ²⁶ And here he is, _y speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that _z the authorities really know that this is the Christ? ²⁷ But _a we know _b where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, _c no one will know where he comes from." ²⁸ So Jesus proclaimed, _d as he taught in the temple, _a "You know me, and you know where I come from? But _e I have not come of my own accord. _f He who sent me is true, _g and him you do not know. ²⁹ _h I know him, for I come _i from him, and _j he sent me." ³⁰ _k So they were seeking to arrest him, but _l no one laid a hand on him, _m because his hour had not yet come. ³¹ Yet _n many of the people believed in him. They said, _o "When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?"
